Piri, if your plan relies on Süleyman staying mad at Hürrem... It is a fucking terrible plan, find a plan B for God's sake. That dude considers getting mad at his wife or his wife getting mad at him a form of foreplay.
Therapy is expensive so I'm re-watching MCU.
I suggest y'all do the same<3
MC Rewatch. Episode 2
Honestly one thing that really surprises me is how unprepared and unable to handle competition Mahidevran is. One would think that as a woman who had lived with Suleiman for years, who had been in his harem long enough to have a son about 5-6 years, who had competition before - Gulfem, she'd know how to at least emotionally handle it.
Mahidevran in this stage of the show is very much characterized by her naivete and inability to do shit.
Like, girl, do you mean to tell me there was no one ever who tried to get Suleiman? Don't try that, that's naive. Her deep belief that Suleiman thinks her special, hi one true love, is just stupid. He didn't even think Alexandra special in the beginning, let's be real here. That came overtime. Mahidevran is taking things personally and deeply, where it never was that deep for Suleiman.
Both Hurrem and Mahidevran are deeply tied to Suleiman in their feelings, but where it is a source of strength and loyalty for Hurrem, that she can wield to bring Suleiman man back, when he strays away, for Mahidevran, her naivete and inability to handle competition for favor make her feelings a liability. She achieves a level of emotional distance and lack of care, but much later on, and not of her own volition, to be true. It isn't a tool of handling reality she picked up from the start. She had to pick it, because her rose-tinted glasses were kicked in, forcing her to confront the world.
Ah ep 2 my beloved <3 Mahidevran is kicked out after a very unfun sex Suly endured, Surrem fuck and laugh for 2 days straight while she seethes, Hurrem hating gayness of ibosuly my beloved, Nigar being smart and coaching Hurrem to get the Thursday night, Ibo is sweet af teaching Mustafa how to write and ibosuly is delightful, even though in the start Ibo is kicked so nice for being shit at his job as usual (he makes it up to Suly by going 🥺 our prepared report? Pls? <3) Hatice is sweet, valide is not yet unhinged in dumb plans -- truly my fave episode ever I guess hahah
Considering Nigar's disgust at Hürrem's actions, it seems to me that she has a strong moral compass unrelated to the dynasty's propaganda, and that she's a lot more rebellious than the other slaves. Her coaching of Hürrem shows she knows what would catch the sultan's attention, and she's beautiful and smart, yet she has never slept with him herself. Thinking she's also channeled that rebellion into making herself invisible and avoiding the sultan on purpose
So, finally im gonna do my annual cm rewatch and i decided that i wanted to blog my thoughts here cause i have no friends to talk about the show cause they dont watch it
I also want to make more friends who watch the show so feel free to send me a DM if you guys want to talk too
I think the reason Mahidevran had more motherly moments with Hürrem's kids than Hürrem did with Mustafa is because
She spent a decent deal of time being the mother of an unrivaled prince. Historically, Suleyman's first two sons, Mahmud and Murad, died of what I believe was smallpox.
Hürrem, on the other hand, knew right off the bat the threats another prince posed, so she had more animosity toward Mustafa that Mahidevran did toward her children.
