Season 3, Round 1, Poll #1

I accidentally made the first poll a day long instead of a week, so I'm reposting it.

Character 1: She is a very enterprising businesswoman who -- due to market conditions -- had to deliver an alternate product to her customers. Did she tell them about this change? No, but they liked her product waayyyy more after the fact. Also she helped her upstairs neighbour gain revenge against a corrupt cop.

Character 2: Last member of his species. Got kidnaped and almost decapitated. Canonically has no eyes yet somehow can see. Uses a sand clock as a wristwatch. Chronic workaholic. Gets no respect. Producer of a news channel (does all the work). Pretended to be the yeti (is ashamed of it). Got into a jack and the beanstalk plot (the seeds were not magic, god himself made them grow). Got turned to stone and got turned back by singing. Without him, everything falls apart. All the parties are in his house. Got randomly found as an infant in the forest by two of his co-workers (he could only say his name). Didn't know what vacations were. Very adorable.

Character 3: She’s got mommy issues, abandonment issues, all the issues in the book. Her mom disappeared and was assumed dead, and she spent a good chunk of her life avoiding the press about it. Then mom comes back and she proceeds to go into a spiral assuming that her mom is up to something nefarious. Her defense mechanism for avoiding being hurt is to insult people. She’s quite possibly the funniest person alive. She committed identity fraud among multiple other crimes, all in the name of catching her mom in the act of lying. By the end of the story she has daddy issues as well. She’s got all the problems and will fight god about it

Character 4: Ginger environmental reporter. Very ignorant. Managed to get himself lost in the desert and the woods. Tries to usurp his best friend for his job of main anchor very openly (his friend is too stupid to realize). Occasionally dances with a mummy. Someone tried to cut his ears off. Ran over a fellow reporter for no particular reason and it remained unremarked upon. Tried to join a tribe of a previously thought of endangered species. Descended upon a river of human waste in the name of journalism. Has pilot capabilities. Has a gambling addiction. Is constantly scammed by the same bald criminal. Dressed up as a mummy to bust a chain of contraband. Occasionally uses horseshoes as actual shoes. Became depressed and tried to become a radio personality. Got threatened with a water gun. Accidentally summoned the devil. Gets constantly educated by his niece and nephew. Bet his aunt on a horserace (he won another aunt). Used a pacifier will into his twenties. His worst nightmare is having perpetual hiccups. Has PTSD from being on the dead slot of 5 am for 6 years. Almost threw himself in an active volcano because of a card game (the other player cheated very blatantly and he didn't notice). A witch tired to marry him. Wrote a horrible play in the name of education. Has aspirations of presidency. Can play the piano. Becomes an involuntary participant of a magic act. Hits people with his guitar. Is related to bats. Looked for El Dorado. Believes cowboys are a Hollywood invention. Almost dies and is saved by a very slow horse.

Character 5: A crime boss who is light on her feet and caring for her children.

Season 3, Round 1, Poll #5

We've come to the end of round 1! But don't worry, we'll be on round 2 before you know it.

Character 21: He's a deplorable guy with a passion for science which lead him to work for what is essentially the mafia. They slowly destroyed his body, yet he survived and worked to build himself a new one. He worked for a secret government agency at one point through a connection he had to another man who needed him to build him a new body. Slay.

Character 22: He's just a little guy who keeps getting enslaved and tortured against his will by upstart teenagers.

Character 23: Hot mannequin who skins people alive and uses she/it pronouns. She killed her own father and threatened give the main character proper skincare. It did a funny dance to start the apocalypse and then died in an explosion

Character 24: Second-youngest of four siblings and the only one not currently living in Florida. A martial artist that has held three different championships in his sport, including one specifically for lightweight/agile competitors that he held for over 200 days in-universe. Was recently written off the show with a broken knee but is planned to return very soon. A stoner. A spraypaint artist. Shared a scene with Teddy Swims at one point.

Character 25: A fun-loving teenager with big dreams and great friends! He doesn’t stick out in the crowd, but it allows him to focus on the simple things and enjoy the ride.

Character 16: A mystery girl living in the computer, she's going far to save all that she loves.

Character 17: Not fire, is stick.

Character 18: They're an artist who revolutionized the medium in which they worked. They didn't listen to any of the best practices at the time and just created their masterpieces. They worked all the time and didn't have time for much else -- including their partner. They had a lot of trouble expressing their feelings and they tried to tell their partner how much they cared by including them in their work, but this wasn't enough for their partner. The partner moved on, and the artist didn't ask them to stay. By the time they died, they couldn't sell a single one of their works.

Character 19: Got brought to life by the magic of friendship. Has a musical number about how much everyone loves this character. Got minimized for not being made of wool and buttons. The conditions in which they were would make this character disappear and every other character was too stupid to realize this. Gets sent to live far away for survival. (NOTE: This description was submitted for two different characters. The random number generator decided this would be the first one.)

Character 20: He’s made up of approximately 90% scar tissue. He’s an orphan and it’s not even a major plot point because his life is just that awful. He was fated and manipulated from the beginning to start the apocalypse and end the world. He spends an entire season going into a downward paranoia spiral and that’s not even his lowest point. He’s like the embodiment of a sad pathetic cat. His closest friends in the world are a woman who tried to kill him and his ex girlfriend. He ends up starting the apocalypse and basically becoming the antichrist and through it all he still cares about people. He thinks he’s a selfish monster while actively risking his life time and time again for people who don’t particularly like him. He’s kidnapped multiple times like a damsel in distress. He’s even canonically asexual, what more could you possibly want?

Season 3, Round 1, Poll #3

The middle of our first round already!

Character 11: He’s got parental issues, he died twice, he went to high security prison, and he has a weird homosexual obsession with his former friend and roommate. He got his crush to electrocute him to death because he wanted to get superpowers. He insists that he’s cold and unfeeling and at the same time picks up an injured child off the road and takes her in. his favourite hobby is vandalising books to make blackout poetry. He’s canonically asexual. He’s like a smug cat if a smug cat could fire a gun and had a body count in the dozens

Character 12: A wandering scholar who wants to learn more about his world and his past. They enjoy meeting fellow travelers, but they haven’t found the person they were looking for yet

Character 13: All he wants is to help people and make his dad proud. He literally invents hot water systems and a new element, as well as multiple compounds used for fuel. One of his inventions leaves his father indisposed and himself basically orphaned, and he spends the latter half of a season going in a downward spiral trying to save him. He commits multiple war crimes and treason all because he wants to save his dad. He managed to build an entire robot army on his own, reverse engineered a truth potion, and took out an entire army. He’s got so many daddy issues. He has an edgy coloured hair streak and funky goggles. Even before he’s redeemed, he shows that he doesn’t want anyone to get hurt and immediately switches sides when he realises people will be killed. He’s self sacrificial and reckless and does his best to stop others from going down the same path he did. His best friend is a raccoon. He has an entire song (which is a banger) just about wanting to prove himself to his dad. He keeps almost falling to his death. He has a cool steampunk look and the saddest most pathetic eyes. He could be described as one of those sad wet shelter cats who you can’t help but fall in love with

Character 14: Orphan boy. Very excitable and gullible. Perpetually hungry. Always craving a ham sandwich. Actually goes to school (isn't very good at it). Freezes when afraid (actually goes rigid). Visits bodily harm upon a landlord frequently. 8 year old played by a 60 year old man. Very popular.

Character 15: DILF with a troubled past. He committed horrible atrocities against his fellow man, his family, and his planet, and now strives to make the world a better place for everyone one step at a time. He moves forward not to redeem himself but to save those he cares about and their futures, as well as to honor the dead. No one makes me cry and make me believe that every one can better themselves day by day like he does.

Season 3 Format

Returning voters, this will look a little different than the previous tournaments. But also, a little similar.

Rules this season

I think the easiest way to explain this is round by round:

Round 1: all 25 characters will be randomly seeded in 5 polls of 5. The top 2 from each poll, as well as the top 6 wild cards across all polls, will move on to the winners bracket for a total of 16. The other 9 will go to the losers bracket.

If we need any tiebreakers, they will happen here.

Round L1: the other 9 players who did not make the winners bracket will compete in 3 polls of 3.

Round L2: the 3 losers of L1 will compete in a single poll. The loser of that poll will take 25th place.

Round W1: the 16 players in the winners bracket will be randomly seeded and compete in 8 matchups. The winners will move on, the losers will each randomly match up with one of the 8 players left in the losers bracket.

After that, we will alternate using this pattern:

Losers Bracket round matching up the winners of the last losers bracket round vs the losers of the last winners bracket round

Losers Bracket round matching up the winners of the last losers bracket round

Winners bracket round matching up the winners of the last winners bracket round

Once a player loses in the losers bracket, they will be eliminated and revealed.
