Oh, this is will be fun... I do have a bit of a headache so I might not do that well today but here I go.
Prompt Number 3 “This isn’t what it looks like.”
How had this happen? “You Bastard --!” Lyn’s angered scream blew through his phone as Castiel stared down at the tabloid in both utter disgust and anger. “Castiel I swear to all that is holy if this is so much as even true--”
“Of course it isn’t! This isn’t what it looks like.” Castiel snapped back over the phone at his pink haired friend. He could vaguely hear Nathaniel and her brother Leo on the other side of the call trying to calm the raging overprotective woman down. Looking back down at the tabloid he reread the words laid over top the image article.
Crowstorm Lead Singer with a New Flame?
It made his stomach curl. The image was of him assisting the younger sister of one of his bandmates not fall face first into the pavement outside the Snake Room. She’d been drunk and his drummer had asked him to hold her steady as he ran back inside to get her bottle of water before he took her home, she’d just turned of legal drinking age and had decided to spend her first time drinking shit faced drunk while her brother rehearsed with the band about the club. When they had been done and come down, the guy had freaked when he found his sister so out of it he was even tempted to take her to the hospital... at least until she puked her guts out near the bar and they were pretty sure she had gotten most of what she drank out her system in that way. He didn’t even really know the kid! He’d just felt bad and was trying to help his bandmate out before heading home so he could get a good nights sleep. He had done just that, once he had made sure his drummer and their kid sister had a secure way to get home. He had plans the very next day with--
“Does Evie know!!” His blood ran cold at the mention of his girlfriend's name. It had hardly been more than two months since they started dating again, and it has seemed his fame with Crowstorm has caused them nothing but trouble. From the original scandal that tried to break out when he first brought her over to his apartment right before they got back together, to the fans that more or less stalked him to her dorm room back right before that, and they’re failed attempt at a date at an actual movie theatre.
“Fuck.” He threw the newspaper in the trash and began to get his things together, he couldn’t just call her over the phone about this, he needed to go meet her face to face and make sure Evie didn’t get the wrong idea.
“Castiel! Are you even still there answer me damn it!” Right, Lyn, he almost forgot he was still on the phone with her.
“Are you going to fix this?”
“Because I swear to god Cas if you break her heart again--”
He snapped, “Will you just shut up! I’m already on it! So just leave me alone and let me handle this!” And hung up the phone cursing. He didn’t even care at the moment just how much gripe she would be giving him next chance she got, picking up his apartments keys and getting ready to dial up his girl as he made his way to the door. “I better just call and see where she is and--” He froze as he open up the door.
Violet eyes blinking innocently up at him, fist raised to knock on the door, her usual school bag around her person and a small bag of groceries in her left hand. “Oh! Castiel I... Are you going out...?”
“Evie...” His shoulders slumped as his original tension to run out to look for her melted away, “What are you doing here?”
She raised a brow at this, pulling out her phone from her back pocket as she looked down at the purple device as she started to look through her messages confused. “I’m sorry but did you cancel our date for the night.”
He almost cursed under his breath, that's right they planned a date night at his place. She had even planned to cook them up something in his barely used kitchen for Petes sake, he actually had to go out with Lyn just to make sure his kitchen was so bare with how little he used it. That damn tabloid had really screwed with his mind, “No, I-- I just... I was thinking to got get you.”
“Oh... Well... can I come in then?” She somewhat shyly asked as she brushed back the loose strands of her bangs, hair down from its usual low ponytail style.
“That was the original plan.” He joked, remembering how even back before they’d been dating in high school how it was not uncommon to have her coming over to his place. Hell, he had even given her a spare key to his place once they had started to date just to make things easier on them. But this wasn’t high school, and they hadn’t been back together that long.
“Smartass.” Playfully pouted, sticking out her tongue to him as she walked past to come in.
Shutting the door behind her he watched as she made her way to his kitchen space. Dropping off her bag by the side of his couch as she did so, and he felt the tension from before return to his limbs. His stomach twisted as he wondered if she had seen the news article in the paper, or on some random online news source.
“You okay with sauteed chicken and spaghetti?” She called back to him as brought out the ingredients from her grocery bag.
Honestly, for once he wasn’t sure he really had an appetite for Evie’s home cooking, let alone food in general. “If I remember correctly you’re the cook here between the two of us, so I’m sure whatever you make will be fine.” He responded instead, moving over to lean against the counter she planned to work on as she got things together.
“You know, I don’t mind getting your input you will be eating it after all.” Evie sighed Castiel only giving her a hum in response as he tried to think up a way to bring up the tabloid article. Watching over her as she set up his stove and got her cutting board ready, he wondered if he should save this for after dinner but the twisting in his stomach might just prevent him from enjoying the meal with her. He almost growled out loud as he watched tie her hair up without a care in the world, did she know, was she completely unaware. If she knew was she mad or was she bottling up her thoughts and feelings again on the subject. He sighed closing his eyes, pushing off the edge of the counter to face her as he opens his mouth to speak.
“Evie I/Cas--” The two stopped, Castiels eyes shotting open to find Evie looking up to him a bit surprised as well. “You go first/I’m sorry I--” Her hand flew up to her mouth and Castiel himself struggle to not crack a laugh as he smiled down at his girl.
“Well, that's new...” He teased making Evie blush as removed her hand from her mouth.
“Castiel, seriously...” She huffed moving her arms to wrap around herself.
“Oh come on, you usually enjoy my teasing.” He said, grabbing on to her waist pull her close and stop her from crossing her arms.
“Right, right... What were you trying to tell me?” He decided to relent enjoying the feel of her arms moving to wrap around his back.
“Weren’t you about to say something as well?” She was pouting and refusing to look up at him as she kept her gaze to his chest.
“I can obviously wait my turn little girl.” He bent his head down, leaning himself enough to let their foreheads touch and their eyes to meet. “Now, what were you gonna say?” It was quiet for a few seconds, Evie hands lightly gripping the back of his shirt as she pressed herself closer to him. He could actually smell her perfume... or was it her shampoo, he honestly couldn’t really tell, she’d never been for such over the top scents so it was hard to tell whether or not it was one of the rare perfumes she owned he was smelling or the sweet shampoo’s and body wash she enjoyed to use.
“I just... I just wanted to let you know I love you.” His mind froze, finding himself forgetting to breathe as she nervously smiled up at him. “And I trust you... I don’t know if you seen today's news but...” He quickly cut her off.
“Evie I swear it’s not--.” She kissed him cutting him off much to his shock, it was rare for her to be the one cutting him off but as she pulled away hiding her face in his chest he could only stand there as she somewhat tighten her grip on him.
“I know! I... I do... You’re not that type of man, I know you wouldn’t...” He gently moved one of his hands to rest a top her head. “You said things like this could happen... I knew that this could... we aren’t even going out publically... I just--” She took in a shaken breath, “I’m not upset with you... I’m not jealous! I just... God... I hate feeling this way.” She hated feeling self-conscious, “I know we’re together, I know you care about me, I just... I know I have to be more open with you and--” He caught her as she hand move to look up at him, covering her lips with her own and somewhat forcing his tongue between her open lips. “Wa-- Cas... I--” She could barely get anything out but that really didn’t matter at the moment.
Pulling apart as a familiar heat began to set in he smiled as he noticed her harsh breathing, blushing cheeks, and lightly bruised lips. “There we go...” He breathed out pulling hair loose from her ponytail and removing the star hair clips she usually used to part and keep her bangs out of her eyes. “I think it’s time I show... no. Remind you Evie,” He began to pull her back close, “Just how much you mean to me, little girl.”
“But what about--” His lips was over her’s before she could even dare to argue at all, dinner abandon for a sweet dessert and release he been meaning to share with the brunette haired woman he called his. They had a lot of lost time to make up for after all, and above all else, he had to make somethings clear.
He was here and wasn’t going to let her keep fighting those damn demons of her’s on her own anymore, just like she was wanting gonna be there for him. He was too... He wouldn’t let her believe otherwise this time around.
