There was a warm sensation in my heel -- a stinging pain to it, too. Just in-front of me was the crushed corpse of Scorpio; that giant shitty bug tried to kill me! Good thing I got him before he could, but..ah, man..I’m bleeding a lot.. These were Orion’s thoughts just after he was stabbed by Scorpio’s tail.

...I need to get to the ocean, there’s venom starting to course from my heel up.

I limped my way to the ocean. I could get the venom out if I just dip my body into the water, I’m the son of Poseidon, the water worked specially for me right..?

I’m starting to see things..huh. Artemis..I won’t leave you, don’t worry -- I’ll get the venom out. I’m your partner, I can’t abandon you; there’s so much I need to tell you, there’s so many things I need to accomplish. I can’t...let a shitty overgrown insect...get the better of me.

I reached the ocean, it took a little bit longer than I liked -- if I were a normal man, I’d surely have died minutes after being pierced by that tail. Luckily, the moment I stepped foot into the water, I could already feel the effects of the venom wearing off and the stinging sensation in foot disappearing. 

Haha, I knew I could do it! Wait ‘till Artemis hears about how I nearly died while she was out with her patrons, I’ll tell ‘er I fended off Cerberus or somethin’...can’t be embarrassed by that scorpion. Though, man..they’re gonna freak me out for a while.

..As I celebrated my survival, my strive to live and see another day; the sun unusually shined brighter than it ever had before, straight into my eyes. I raised my arm to shield my face from the heat rays, but...just after I did that -- I felt a pain I’d never felt before. It wasn’t like the sting of Scorpio, it wasn’t like the lion’s fangs on my bare hand. This was...so painful. My arm falls off from my face instantly, just as the sun’s rays disappear. Before I knew it, I spewed blood straight out of my mouth into the ocean. When I looked at my chest, there was a hole that went clean through me..ah, it’s so cold..

When I lifted my head, I began to lose consciousness. But just before I did, I heard a familiar woman’s agonizing scream -- it was a heartbroken cry, that which belonged to...Artemis? ...Ah.. I see. That...makes sense. Nobody else could make this clean of a shot. A split second before my conscious was truly lost, I saw another figure - a male, standing behind Artemis as she sprinted into the ocean. That was...oh, haha..so that’s what was happening.  My body then fell into the water.

The next few seconds were a blur to me. But, I wasn’t dead yet - falling into the ocean like I did must’ve given me just a few seconds extra. I was on the shore now, Artemis was over my body -- but I couldn’t see her. My eyes were open, but I couldn’t see her. 

...So this was what death was like? ..I wasn’t ready, I don’t want this. 

Artie...

I cough the nickname I gave her, it was..easier for me to speak that way. Then, with what little energy I could muster - I raise my arm to gently pull her into me, a hug of goodbye. 

A..pollo.

I wanted to say that I loved her. I wanted to thank her. I wanted to tell her how much she meant to me. But...she needed to know, it wasn’t her fault. Apollo had threatened me multiple times before, I hope..that was enough for you, Artemis. 

...I’m so cold. I’m sorry, Artemis -- this is the end. 

..I love you.

With his final thought, Orion’s final breath was delivered. He had a smile on his face, despite the situation -- he died holding the one he loved, that was enough for him.

No matter the reason behind this strange action, Enkidu couldn’t help, but to grab the man’s hand, pulling the fingers to their lips, and gently kissing the knuckles of the hand. 

Enkidu slowly reaches out to handhold back.
