McPike Kiss Prompt: A Shut them up kiss

25. A kiss to shut the other person up

The cat was let out of the bag in what would go down in Enterprise lore as one of the most surprising and epic moments ever. Bones had been going off on an epic rant about diseases and dangers during a meeting of the senior staff. Jim wasn’t sure what had set him off, but he was working himself up into a tizzy.

Jim squeezed his eyes shut, prayed for patience and took a deep breath, knowing he needed to give Bones a little professional scolding.

“Dr. McCoy,” he began, but didn’t get any further because the good doctor had just been effectively silenced by a good sound kiss from Chris, who’d been sitting next to him.

Jaws dropped, including Jim’s, and he heard gasps from Uhura and Carol.

Bones’s face flushed a dark red, but he wasn’t ranting anymore, so Jim decided to just roll with it.

“Thank you, Sir,” he said politely, nodding at his mentor.

“No problem, Jim,” Chris replied, looking as unflappable as ever, but with an unmistakable twinkle in his eye.

“Now, as I was saying…….” Jim managed to finish his meeting uneventfully, though he noticed Bones didn’t stick around afterward. He’d check on him later. Or Chris would.

“If you were trying to keep it a secret, well that plan’s shot to hell,” Leonard mumbled to Chris, headed to the lift afterward.

“They were going to figure it out eventually. But Jim looked ready to write you up, and I wouldn’t have blamed him. I figured that was the best distraction.”

Leonard sighed.

“I’ll apologize to Jim. I let the stress get to me. The truth is, we’re overwhelmed down there and the staff turnover has been unusually high lately. Even Chapel is looking burned out. Something’s gotta give, Chris. I don’t know what.”

Chris looked at him closely. Leonard’s green eyes looked bleak and stress filled and he mentally kicked himself for not seeing it sooner.

He stopped and put a hand on Len’s shoulder.

“I’ve got you, Len,” he said softly. “You know that, right?”

“Yeah,” the doctor answered, a faint smile appearing. “Sorry I didn’t say something sooner. I’m too stubborn for my own good sometimes.”

“But that’s not always a bad thing. I might not be walking and Jim would be six feet under if you weren’t so stubborn. So, we’ll set up a meeting with you and Geoff and Christine so you can tell Jim and I what needs to happen. Crew Burnout is real and we won’t take this lightly.”

Leonard heaved a sigh of relief. It felt good to have finally got it off his chest.

“Thanks, Chris. You’re the best thing that’s happened to me.”

Writing a lighthearted time travel fic for father’s day. Kirk and McCoy somehow get sent back to 2230 during a transporter malfunction and end up on First Officer Pike’s ship, the Antares. As y’all know, I love me some McPike, and this fic is an extension of last year’s father’s day fic which also feature McPike.

The question is whether or not Kirk and McCoy tell Pike about their relationship. If they don’t, Pike figures it out by McCoy’s painfully obvious longing looks and sighs and blushes. If they do, it’s Kirk that reveals the secret in a sort of tit-for-tat childish way after McCoy tells Pike about this being the only chance for Kirk to meet his father.

On one hand, you have flirty shenanigans. On the other, you have Kirk allowed to act like a bit of a kid because Pike is the only person he ever felt comfortable doing that around.

I don’t know what to go with, they’re both good options. 😭

Watching the Cloud of Dust by AngelQueen. Pike runs into Spock Prime while seeing the Enterprise off. Cue melancholy fluff (it follows Spock Prime around like a dog). 1.7k oneshot, G.

Featuring depressed!bipolar!Chris, who is Not Having A Good Time, Emergency Department (ED) doc Bones, and mother-hen!Jim. Phil is essentially Sir Not Appearing In This Fic, but he and Chris are married. Seven chapters, 14k, G. Incomplete. I adore this one. 

When Darkness Drifts by InsaneSociopath. Tarsus fic. Jim gets adopted by Starfleet but still ends up on Tarsus, except Chris is there. All Tarsus-related warnings apply. Jim and Chris centric; Phil is most present in the last few chapters. Six chapters, 44k, M. Complete.

Pike comes to town to recruit him, ends up paying for a night without knowing Bones is Bones, and then they both freak the fuck out when Pike realizes who he is. More-or-less just smut and angst. Singularities Verse by FrancescaMonterone. Bones and Pike fall in love, Pike adopts Chekov, Jim is Jim. Bonus Admirals Archer and Reed, and Archer/Reed. Mostly pre-canon, ace Pike. Series, 81k in six parts, T. WIP.

Christopher Pike was a confident man. He had went on several dangerous missions, stayed calm where others would have panicked. But right now he was a really nervous man, to the amusement of his own boyfriend.

In two days was Christmas and the crew of the Enterprise had managed to get shore leave on earth. So of course Leonard had decided to drive home to Georgia, taking Pike with him.

It would be the first time Chris would meet McCoy's family.

Sure he had talked with Leonard's mother and daughter a few times via video chat, but never for long.

The Admiral wondered what kind of image the two had of him. What did Leonard tell them when Pike himself hadn't been there? What did they tell the rest of the McCoy family?

"You couldn't find a bigger one,huh?" Leonard asked half laughing as he saw the gigantic plush pony Christopher had bought for Joanna.

"I wanted to have a gift for her! Not for Christmas but like a first meeting gift!" the Admiral argued, "And you told me she likes horses."

Leonard's face softened and he walked the few steps over to Pike, wrapping his arms around the older man.

"This is honestly very sweet of you." the doctor stated, "I'm sure Jo will appreciate it. But believe me when I say she already likes you without you giving her any gifts."

At this Chris smiled, relieved but still a bit nervous.

So teasingly Leonard added:"Though I guess, I can be glad you didn't get her a real pony."

"Come on Leo, you know that ponys aren't considered a pet and therefore wouldn't be allowed in the shuttle to Georgia." Pike replied without thinking about it.

Half shocked, half amused Leonard looked at his partner. "You actually considered it!"

Sheepishly Chris looked away and scratched his neck.

Now the doctor couldn't help but laugh.

When he calmed down again, however, he looked at the clock and said:"Okay,we should go now before we miss our shuttle."

Chris nooded and went to get his jacket. He nearly missed Leonard's added "Oh, and since it was your idea and we don't have a bag big enough you carry the pony."

The next day there was a picture everywhere on the internet,which showed Admiral Pike sitting in a shuttle with a big plush pony on his lap that nearly covered his whole face. What one could see from his expression was a weird mix of annoyance and nervousness. Beside him sat Doctor McCoy looking very amused.

When Jim Kirk saw this picture he laughed,saved the picture and then laughed again.
