alana wakes up at the sound of some shuffling near her door. she knows, she knows that hospital security wouldn’t let anything happen, that not only is she protected by the institution, but also by a security detail provided by the fbi. still, her heart rate picks up until she sees that it’s just will.

well... just will might not be the appropriate phrasing. they have a lot to talk about, after all. she supposes she owes him an apology. more than anything, though, she’s kicking herself for missing all of it. if she had known, yes, her relationship with will would have been spared a great deal of trouble. but then abigail would still be alive, and beverly. will, herself, even frederick chilton would have been spared so much pain.

she listens as he softly closes the door, sits down. she opens her eyes.

                                    “we have to stop meeting like this,” says the doctor wryly.

idk if anyone actually assumes this, i just like hearing more about lynn, so misconception: she willingly puts herself and/or blake at risk if it means getting a good story

sweats............ this one is partially true. 

let me preface by saying lynn would never INTENTIONALLY put blake in danger. she isn’t out to ruin their lives, but at the same time she and blake are adults and are well aware of the risky situations that come with investigative journalism. they have several contingency plans for when one of them accidentally fucks up. 

so does she put herself and blake in these situations despite the risks? yes. lynn is undeniably passionate and driven by her work, out of both empathy towards the stories she pursues and exposing hidden truths. and if that results in furthering her career then that’s just a bonus. she is respected for her ‘go get ‘em’ attitude and her blunt, to-the-point reporting. however, all of these positive traits have a negative side as well. lynn is headstrong as hell. and her stubbornness sometimes blinds her to the reality of a situation. she has a bad habit of shutting off the world around if she’s deep in a case, and that includes the indication of any potential dangers. 

which is why i believe she pushed for the jane doe case. she pushed it even though blake showed some discomfort. she knew in her gut the story was big and she had to know what was behind that curtain, for both jane doe and herself. it’s because of her blind ambition that she is ridden with guilt in her post-game verses, especially the one where blake is dead. while, again, she would’ve never intentionally put blake in danger, she feels temple gate was her fault. after all, she was the one who brought them there.

          “OH HELL -- BEAR NO! DON’T --” Her dog completely ignored her the moment he realized he’d slipped the leash. Normally she didn’t bother. It was only after a day at the dog park that Bear lost his mind. And in this case, proceeded to tackle some hapless man on the street. Jumping. Licking. Going whole hog. 

“Oh you horrible black devil!” she managed to get her arms around the dog’s middle and pull him off the stranger. 

“Are you okay? Oh goodness, I am so sorry -- he never does this!”

he had heard the distinct sound of pocket camp from across the lab. what started as errant curiosity ( he can’t believe will even figured out the app store exists, let alone downloaded a game ) quickly turns to a mix of shock and disbelief as will is apparently one week in and forty-six levels higher than james.

                                                                          absolutely unacceptable. 

now from his position ( spying ) over will’s shoulder, he can see him complete the usual mobile game busywork.
