I do recommend My Country: the New Age if you like watching lots of WAR and dramatics between insane gay people. Okay there is ALWAYS. just a lot going on. Here’s a chain of events: Nam Seon-ho, upon reuniting with Seo Hwi for the first time since screwing him over during the state exam and then getting Hwi sent to the front to stop his dad from killing Hwi bc Hwi knows that Seon-ho’s dad bribed an examiner (like I said. LOT going on.) because now Seon-ho’s been sent to kill Hwi’s unit by his dad, kinda just stares at him for a bit and then immediately jumps into Sung-rok’s sword that’s meant for Hwi. Big stab wound, he looks totally dead, Hwi screams a lot over his body it’s great. Anyhow, while Seon-ho is passed out, after he finishes screaming, Hwi 1) begs on his knees for his friends to PLEASE help him save the guy who was sent to kill them all, 2) organizes their escape from the extra guys Seon-ho’s dad left behind to kill all the survivors including Seon-ho, and 3) gets Seon-ho medical care and refuses to leave his side for two days. When Seon-ho wakes up he’s like I have realized that I have something I can’t bear to lose. I am talking about YOU. Idiot. And Hwi goes “…?” And then Seon-ho starts lying and telling Hwi that Seon-ho is responsible for all the bad shit that happened (lies) and Hwi says right thats all bullshit it’s clearly your asshole dad’s fault. and then Seon-ho says “your sister is dead” (she’s not, but his dad said he’d kill anyone who found out) so Seo Hwi goes YOU KNOW WHAT!!! FUCK YOU FOREVER AND EVER!! WE ARE BREAKING UP!!!! And Seon-ho just goes🧍👍 okay [eyes full of tears] and Hwi says I am going to KILL your dad (the secretary of the state) and Seon-ho goes wHAT NO. nononono dont. Dont do that he’ll fucking kill you!!!!!!!!!! And Hwi says WE ARE BROKEN UP FOREVER AND EVER YOU DONT GET TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO and then their conversation is interrupted by a bunch of flaming arrows and Hwi, who, and I cannot emphasize this enough, just HAULED HIS HALF-DEAD ASS for like three days to save Seon-ho, FULLY abandons Seon-ho to the flaming arrows. And Seon-ho goes right yeah cool so that’s great, puts his armor on and then uses a big dramatic speech about being abandoned to recruit Sung-rok to his big plan to kill his dad (the secretary of the state) and the king and then he dramatically steps out of the burning building looking like a human shadow yadda yadda Seon-ho’s the dark prince now blah. And then theres still like a full hour of episode left after all that
