Rant on WillMack and public speculations

Okay, second post and already a maybe unpopular and kind of hypocritical opinion because I literally opened a Tumblr account because of WillMack, but I do feel the need to say this:

The more the WillMack narrative gets pushed into main media, the less we’ll get to see their relationship and dynamic.

Whether it’s a private relationship, a secret crush on one or both sides, or even just a very close friendship, the more we push the narrative that they’re gay, the less they’ll feel free to be themselves publicly.

I hate when people get mad at others for shipping male on male and say, “these are real people you’re talking about,” when I’ve never heard that being said about heteronormative ships. But in this context, with such a homophobic environment, I don’t know if anything good will come out of gay speculations, sadly.

I hate to be that person lol, but I feel like we’re on our way to see this unfold like the whole Larry situation back in the day and it’s truly upsetting.

I’m not judging anyone here, that would be very hypocritical, but as the ship becomes more popular and pushed into main media I’m scared of the damage that will bring on them.

And I’m not saying that it’s okay for things to work this way; the real problem isn’t the ship, it’s the homophobia and all of that. Whether it’s true or not being called / speculated queer shouldn’t be insulting, damaging or shameful, but it sadly is.
