fairy in a jar ;
despite the idea that humans were conjured up of foulness and tainted hearts, momo couldn’t help be at least slightly intrigued by their nature. perhaps venturing away from the faery realm would be a grave mistake the second time around, decades later after the first, but she can see how much humans have changed and advanced. they weren’t as they were before. they weren’t as art centric, they weren’t praying to their gods, they weren’t wearing traditional clothing -- she didn’t realise the humans could advance so quickly in so little time.
she’s amazed by the electric advertisements and the bright lights of shop windows. sleek, faster automobiles catch her interest even now: their designs contrasting drastically to what it was some 80 years ago. she tries to keep her gawking to a minimum, as always, but there’s typically something new that catches her eye. this time it was the lights of an electronics store. the whirrs of the machines within piqued her interest. the faery wandered over with wide curious eyes similar to that of a child.
momo looks around in complete shock that no one is nearly as interested in this like she is. she assumes that they (humans) had grown accustomed to their own creations. the idea amazes her simply because she can’t believe anyone who isn’t interesting in buying something called an ipad that responds when you touch it.
she turns back to the window display to stare at the other items for sale in the establishment. in the shaded reflection of the window she notices her eyes are still their natural lilac colour. momo’s breath hitched at her own rookie mistake of leaving her natural eye colour. she looked around quickly to make sure no one was paying attention -- no one was -- and she switched the colour to a dark brown as she sees that everyone else has. she coughs a bit nervously despite the fact that she’s sure no one could have caught her eyes changing from purple to dark brown.
without further interruptions momo pulls herself away from the electronics shop window, suddenly feeling too paranoid to stick by the store any long. the detour was long enough. she had to start heading towards the library.
