Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD-08) is the closest thing to the conscience of the US House of Representatives. He's in line to become chair of the House Judiciary Committee if when Dems re-take the US House.

Word has it that the Trump White House is already preparing for a Democratic Congress. Meetings are being held to teach Trump staffers how a real Congress, not a MAGA rubber stamp, operates.

Rep. Raskin would like to investigate Trump's corrupt "Board of Peace" which is little more than a Trump slush fund. Democrats would get that opportunity as the majority in the House.

Despite gerrymandering and the SCOTUS anti-Black decision on the 1965 Voting Rights Act, Democrats can win back the House if they mobilize voters this autumn. Hungary's Tisza Party overcame far worse gerrymandering and near total control of the media by Orbán and still won a landslide victory for democracy.

With the government shutdown probably almost over, attention in Washington shifts back to the Trump-Epstein sex scandal.

The US House will be in session again and that means that Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ-07) will finally be sworn in. Her name will be #218 on the discharge petition in the House to release the Epstein files.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD-08) appeared on MSNBC (see above) and brought up a number of issues regarding the massively preferential treatment given to sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell as outlined in a whistleblower report.

Apparently Maxwell, who already gets concierge treatment at her luxury prison (a former hunting lodge), is seeking a commutation from her friend Donald Trump.

In a letter to Trump on Monday, House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin, D-Md., demanded the administration release information about the commutation application and called on Trump to reject her request. “You should not grant any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” Raskin wrote. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any special treatment or institutional privilege at all.”

We can only imagine what a sex fiend like Maxwell is doing with those puppies in her cell suite.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD-08) is a living national treasure of democracy.

Rep. Raskin visited with Alicia Menendez, Michael Steele, and Symone Sanders-Townsend at MSNBC's The Weekend to talk about a number of issues.

He said Trump "came back to the scene of the crime" with his first visit to Capitol Hill since 06 January 2021. Trump met with GOP members of both chambers who ignored the fact that he put their lives at risk with his coup attempt.

Of course Trump offered no apology for his endangerment of their lives or for his damage to American institutions of democracy. It says a lot about the mindset of most Republicans these days that they will suffer no humiliation too great to show their grovelling loyalty to wannabe dictator Trump.

Rep. Raskin also talked about the GOP Supreme Court's NRA-friendly approval of the use of "bump stocks" – devices that permit assault rifles to be converted into machine guns.

Republicans willingly gave up their claim to being the party of law and order so they could incessantly pander to Trump's lust for dictatorship and to empower the NRA's goal of putting machine guns in the hands of every nutjob in the country.

This election requires more personal effort than previous ones. Be willing to do more grassroots work and make our case to low-information voters you may know.

The House Republican attempt to impeach Biden continues on its bumpy and crooked path to nowhere.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD-08) is a national treasure. Many people remember him from his work on the House January 6th Committee.

This week Rep.Raskin used political jujitsu against the MAGA Freedom Caucus in his questioning of Special Counsel Robert Hur. He turned the tables by getting Hur to point out that Biden's cooperation on the classified documents case was a contrast to Trump's lack of cooperation and obstruction of justice.
