Rose drawing for my mom's 2024 birthday card.

5/18/2024. Referenced my photo of one of my mom's roses from her front yard gardens. No pencil underdrawings. Drawn in Copic markers and ShinHanArt Touch markers. On white cardstock. My scans ususally turn out a little duller than my real life drawings, but I'm bad at digital lighting, and this scan may not be too much different from the in real life drawing, so I didn't digitally adjust any lighting.

Like my 2024 Mother's Day card, I started drawing too far down on the page. So this time, I tried adding some blue sky at the top, to fill the excess blank space. It also nicely differentiates this birthday card from her Mother's Day card, since both cards are drawings of roses.

Tulip sketch for Mother's Day card 2026.

5/9-10/2026. Drawn in Copic and ShinHanArt Touch markers. No pencil underdrawing. Referenced my photo from Descanso Gardens during their tulip season. Digitally adjusted lighting in Krita, since my scanner shifted the hue towards reds, while my drawing was originally oranges.

I thought it was a ranunculus planted among the tulip beds, since there were some foxgloves and daffodils mixed in with the tulips too. But according to The Blooming Backyard (https://www.bloomingbackyard.com/tulip-types/) these seem to be a variety of tulips called "double early tulips".
