Cambridge BioMarketing

This past January, M Doucette Production was hired to produce a photoshoot for Cambridge BioMarking, a full-service advertising and communications agency serving pharmaceutical and biotech clients. The concept was to shoot four models walking a tightrope up in the sky...easy enough, right? We produced the job in it’s entirety—from finding the right photographer, and studio location, to casting models, sourcing hair/makeup and wardrobe stylists as well as coordinating post-production retouching. Take a look behind the scenes to see how we pulled it all together. And check back soon for the final images!

First stop, the casting couch. Michele saw over 150 models to fill just 4 slots. It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it ;)

Each model was asked to use their imagination and walk across a 'tightrope'. Some pictured molten lava beneath their feet, others a vast canyon. What would you picture to get into character?

Load-in time. The crew showed up bright and early to prep the set, from lighting to wardrobe (and a pair of nameless shoes).

Why is the sky blue, you ask? We're not sure, but our wardrobe wears it well!

Last fall, M Doucette Production was hired to produce the latest Keds campaign with Taylor Swift. We handled all aspects of production—including but not limited to—Photographer/Director Sourcing & Hiring, Location Scouting, Hair & Makeup, Wardrobe, Crew, Hotel & Lodging, Transportation, Catering, and Model Casting. It was a team effort across the board and we’d like to take you behind the scenes for a special look at how we pulled it all together!

ESPN Magazine

In 2011, ESPN Magazine editor, Nancy Weisman, hired Michele Doucette to produce Portraits and Video.

Our crew toured the streets of Boston for two days, following several Bruins players to their favorite local neighborhood spots. Featured players: Andrew Ference, Milan Lucic, Tim Thomas, Zdeno Chara, Patrice Bergeron, Tyler Seguin and Shawn Thorton.

ANDREW FERENCE & MONICA'S MERCATO

The first stop on our tour of Boston's North End was none other than Monica's Mercato. These guys sure know a thing or two about fresh and authentic Italian cuisine. And the hospitality shown by store manager, Casey and the three Mercato brothers couldn't have been better—let's just say, we had the BEST lunch and met some new amici!

ESPN's wardrobe stylist, Samantha Rubin, and senior writer, Lindsay Berra were so excited for food shopping in the North End.

Lights, camera, action! It only took two or three takes before a few fans flocked to the street for Andrew Ference's video interview.

Ference: “When I first came to Boston, I was looking for a place to get fresh pasta for my pregame meal, and everyone said Monica’s was the spot. On game days, I pick up sweet potato gnocchi or chicken ravioli. Same thing after games.”

Ference: “I’ve become good friends with the owner, Frankie. Our daughters go to school together and he even came up to visit me in B.C. over the summer. We never talk business. He says he doesn’t know anything about hockey, and I don’t know anything about food.”

MILAN LUCIC & BOSTON BARBER

Milan Lucic arrives at Boston Barber with a bit more than a 5 o'clock shadow. But not to worry, Boston Barber is the best shop in town. You can even play a game of chess or watch a Bruins game while you wait.

While shop owner Robert Della Russo preps the straight edge razor and hot towels, Milan rants to the camera crew about how much he loves Boston Barber. FUN FACT: this is the first place he came (to shave his beard) after winning the Stanley Cup!

Getting the perfect shot is never easy. So Nancy lends a helping hand to ensure our photographer, Luis stays in one piece—we mean place!

Interview time! Stevland Wilson gets a quick touch-up from hair and makeup artist, Marigola of The Team Agency before interviewing Milan.

Lucic: “After we wont the Stanley Cup, the first thing I wanted to do was get off the plane. I’ve been hanging out here for a long time, and it was great to celebrate with the guys.”

Lucic: “The way I play, it worked out well to be in Boston. I think we were able to win because we have that in-your-face attitude. I make big hits and fight, and I can score goals, so the fans took a liking to me right away, and I appreciate that everyday.”

Thomas: “I played in Europe, and I think Boston has a very European feel. We drive past Paul Revere’s capture site every time we go to Logan Airport, and my kids are learning about the Boston Tea Party and going to all the landmarks on school trips."

Partly Cloudy with a Chance of Godsmack

Sure, the weather might have lacked spring spirit, but today’s forecast was a true godsend for our team. After all, they don’t call clouds ‘nature’s softbox’ for nothing. In fact, the sky became our very own diffuser; one that allowed photographer, Chapman Baehler, to snag some stellar shots of the band and Boston.

The band. Known for their high-energy performances and killer vocals, Godsmack is a hard rock band that’s been nominated for four Grammys, toured with Ozzfest and has a fan following whose dedication is thicker than blood. But did you know they were formed in Lawrence, Massachusetts back in 1995? Yup, we had a group of Boston boys on our hands. And don’t be fooled, these local lads pack some serious punch and have risen way beyond the hometown charts with three consecutive number-one albums, a handful of top ten radio hits and over 20 million records sold in just over a decade. Needless to say that when it came time to photograph this iconic group, our team had no worries about their ability to strike the perfect pose—or chord for that matter!

What we did. Paige Dorian sure knows a thing or two about producing successful shoots. As a West Coast producer, she’s worked with artists like Evanescence, Daughtry and even Carly Rae Jepsen. So when she hired MDP to source locations and manage on-set logistics for Godsmack’s Beantown shoot, our producer Michele couldn’t have been more excited to get the ball rolling. The group wanted their new album cover to scream ‘Boston’, so we went to work to find the best places and spaces to represent our beloved city and their creative vision (as if we needed another excuse to rent a super-cool motor home)!

Where it went down. The day began with a meet-up at Castle Island. There, we assembled our team of stylists, technicians and assistants, before heading out with the boys to our three shooting locations: Paul Revere Park, a city rooftop, and some edgy alleys in Southie.

Fan-girl frenzy. Okay, so maybe there weren't any screaming fan-girls to be seen, but that didn't stop our police detail from snapping a pic with the band. Who knew Boston's finest were such hard-rock fans?

Pin-ups and Food Trucks!

BEHIND THE SCENES of a charity calendar for Food Truck Festivals of New England.

In 2012, we took on the task of producing a pin-up calendar to be sold at the Food Truck Festivals of New England, with all proceeds benefiting Community Servings, whose volunteers, sponsors and staff prepare and deliver 7,500 lunches and dinners to hundreds of home-bound individuals and families in Massachusetts.

From casting models and selecting hair/makeup, to assembling wardrobe and securing locations, we made sure all the pieces fell into place. Our goal was to modernize the classic look. Sure, we wanted to stay true to our pin-up roots, but this time with edgier girls, tattoos even.
