as someone who read the novel and was initially super hesitant to watch the Untamed, i loved it way more because of the sense of hope it gives the audience. I love how you put it into words with your rewatch post. this really gives us the feel of people who have read the novel and are trying to be gentle with the audience and give them more hope. the end of the show is also a lot more hopeful overall in terms of society and individual relationships than the book. it's a relief tbh.

Other translations translate what Jiang Fengmian calls his wife as "Third Lady" , not "Third Wife"; I believe the novel explains it as a reference to her position in her home sect or birth family. It's similar to the way LWJ is Second Young Master Lan. Both Jiang Cheng and Yanli are her bio children.

That translation makes a lot more sense to me! We already know she kept her original name and title in other respects, so it makes sense she’d keep that title too if she had it originally.
