I saw the post about all your AUs and the tin can legacy one really intrigued me. Considering Eli and Chase were on the Brave brigade together, does Chase help him take Robert? What's their relationship?

oh my gosh thank you so much for sending in an ask about my au's and this one in particular i'm like super attached to it tbqh ^w^

but yes! chase actually does help eli with all this! he doesn't end up going with eli and robert, but he does help with them getting outta there. eli would have loved if chase joined them, especially because robert is so attached to him; but it ultimately works better if he stays, for them and himself.

he is, however, the only person who (secretly) has contact with them. staying behind also means he can keep tabs on robbie and anything else. so the three still stay in some-level of contact even if its not in-person.

as far as their relationship overall, i think it's in a kinda weird like gray area between parental (on eli's side) and friendship? like he has a lot of years on chase, but chase also clearly has his head on his shoulders too. eli, of course, really respects the brigade's heroes, they're the end of the golden age and chase is a part of that!

i did the math w/ help from the wiki and especially since chase probably joined the brigade at approximately 16, i think eli in this au probably felt fairly protective of him. even if at first it was like just the 'well i'm an adult and here is a literal child so, it's part of my responsibility to make sure he is okay'. but especially as chase grew in robert's life and therefore around eli even more --- their friendship grew.

eli and chase are the ones who saw robert the most, and were in his life the most. and eli automatically just, respects anyone willing to like, help keep robert safe. like even if they didn't really get along on a personal level, they're the president and vp of the "protect robert robertson the third" club; and in general have a lot of respect for each other. but thankfully they are also friends!

(which is also good because eli does not make friends easily lmao)
