In the Meantime with Mean Dave #12: Corie Gipson & Iris Benson (FUCK CANCER EDITION)
I'm lazy. I treat sex like sports: I'd rather pay to see professionals do it on TV. I'm almost too lazy for consensual sex.

I don't do open-mic comedy for the laughs. I do it for the peace and quiet.

Monkey Fight Comedy Night was a blast and a half!!
Tonight was such a good time! I'm thinking Juan Carlos may have tapped into an uncomedy-ed area in Santa Rosa. I did not expect to walk into a packed restaurant tonight. But Sweet River was pretty close to full tonight! Not that I didn't have a decent amount of good friends there myself, and thanks to all of them, but so rarely, for me at least, does a show come with audience provided.
I made a bit of comedy geek/fool out of myself introducing myself to Alex Koll, the headliner. Mostly because when I walked up to him, it looked like he was enjoying some family time with his wife and 9 yr. old son. I later learned that the 9 yr. old son was actually going up after me, and not related to Alex at all. So my efforts to be apologetic for interrupting family time while demonstrating fandom, while simultaneously blowing off the boy with "buddies" and "pals" really just came off as awkward and dickish. Aw well! What are you gonna do?
But I the opener, which was cool! I dropped the Tasty Tim Wolcott on Sweet River then I did some material Mackie and I have been working on about the difference between Drunk Tim and Stoned Tim.
"Drunk Tim really enjoys slap fights. Stoned Tim doesn't like to be slapped. But they both love Taco Bell."
Then things got weird! I did this bit where I run around and heckle myself as multiple characters. Its a bit you've got to commit to and you don't know if its working until its way too late to turn back. But Sweet River seemed to really enjoy it so no harm, no foul I guess. Especially considering how narrowly I avoided plowing into a drink runner when I was running around.
And after, since I started it off, I got to just sit and watch and be a comedy fan. Tyler killed it right after me. How can you not laugh at a 9 yr. old telling a Jerry Sandusky joke!? And cool to see some SF faces, Bryant Hicks and Mean Dave, in the north bay. And Alex Koll killed! The balls to be bizarre on that guy are huge.
So thanks, again, to my friends that came out, Cams, and Heather, and my crime fighting crew. And thanks to Juan Carlos for putting on a hell of a show. And with that, yet another successful night of comedy is put to bed.
