Hey there ! A friend of mine asked me to find the Matoric word for "sacrifice", but there doesn't seem to even be a mention of sacrifice in the whole document. I thought of "ahkuatu", but I'm unsure. (akhua "death" + (a)tu (MOD "heroic)) Any help ?

Hello! The concept of "sacrifice" hasn't come up in my translations yet, which is interesting, I think. I wonder if Matoran and other MU denizens would even have this concept of "giving something (of value) up" in the earlier phases of their cultural development. They might view instances of sacrifice simply as fulfillments of Duty or Destiny...

I think your solution of using Akhua Atu "heroic death" would cover the concept of "heroic sacrifice" or maybe "sacrifice for others". This could also be rendered Atu-Akhua or Atakhua.

Alternately, I imagine that the word khu "separation" would also suffice, or possible khu ha, literally "positive/good separation" (ha-khu, hakhu).

Hello, there ! I'm currently working on naming all the unnamed species (using the Unnamed Species page on BS01 as a list) at the moment, and I stumbled on two terms in your dictionary of which I didn't see the explanation; "Zekkioz" and "Ehsoran".

I somewhat understand that Zekkioz is the name of Ehlek's species, but what about Ehsoran ?

I'd also love to hear more Matoric names for the unnamed species at some point. :]

Happy to clarify! The terms Zekkioz and Ehsoran are referenced in the etymology for the name of the Barraki Ehlek, and they actually both refer to Ehlek's "species". The term Zekkioz is the equivalent of an "endonym, or an internally-chosen name (i.e. chosen by the Zekkioz themselves).

The term Ehsoran, in contrast, is more of an exonym, assigned to Ehlek's species by Matoric-speaking groups. It consists of the stem ehz-, which represents the name Ekzek (the first created member of the species, and also the namesake of Ehlek) combined with the Matoric element aran "species, production-line", yielding a meaning like "species of Ekzek" or "people of Ekzek".

I have formulated names for at least two other of the Barraki species:

The species-members of Pridak are Phynaran (another exonym, similar to Ehsoran) and the species-members of Carapar are the Carekks (an endonym). In both cases, you can hopefully see the interrelation between the names of the Barraki themselves and the group-name.
