"Sir, they're painting us with a laser designator but we have no visual confirmation of any missiles being fired."
The catgirl mech pilot cresting a ridge: >O.O<
Fantasy creatures in mechs.
Elves who insist in a fully immersion vr method of piloting because they'll be dammed if those hundreds of years training with a bow go wasted
Dwarves who take a distressing amount of joy in being the biggest for once, hitting the enemy with a gun bigger than the mech
Werewolves who are raised from birth by the company and controlled via the family bonds
Centaurs piloting the spider tank™️ because they are used to a much more stable platform
Gargoyles used to having thicker skin than everyone else suddenly becoming snipers and ambushers out of fear
That hell hound who's immune to fire taking full advantage of this and detonating their mech every other mission, much to mission controls annoyance.
Is this anything?
Feel free to add your own take on this
cuddle the mech pilot you adopted. no, really snuggle her. don’t let her sleep at the foot of your bed. she thinks she doesn’t deserve to curl up with you like a person and will sleep down there huddled up like a dog if you let her. don’t let her. tell her gently but firmly that you want to touch her and that she’s going to get under the blankets with you and you’re going to spoon her
she might cry a bit. pilots aren’t used to that kind of affection. just wipe her tears and tell her you love her and it’s ok for her to cry. and then fall asleep together
Imagine a handler who's too cautious with their hound. Mocking, taunting, yet apologetically patting its head and muttering apologies whenever the training is too harsh or their insults too personal. A handler who constantly scans the room for their hound, then approaches so quietly that the hound jumps a little from being startled for the first few months of training. A handler who trips over their words, whose cruel laughter turns high and genuine. A handler who knocks off things and drops important papers, just for the hound to pick them up. A handler whose hound has to help them stand up from their chair after a long night of debriefing and filing reports. A handler who's too afraid to leave the hound alone. A handler who has to turn away at the sight of the hound's wounds. A handler who quietly cries after the meetings with the higher management, despite being known as stoic and capable.
The handler who wishes to run away. The hound that would follow them.
Thinking about a pilot whose mech is so vastly different from the standard humanoid design every other pilot gets. Something fully inhuman like a canine or even something utterly alien. Yet still requires her to interface with it neurologically to properly control it. She starts out just fine, she's even more excited her handler gave her the gift of her new body
Over time she grows more and more distressed when outside her mech though. Her limbs don't feel quite correct anymore, her eyes see the world in strange and unnatural ways. It's wrong and weird and she spends more and more time in her mech, just sitting inside the cockpit feeling comfortable in her correct body.
Her beloved handler notices of course, and brings her in for more and more body modifications to correct what feels so wrong. Better eyes, multiple new arms, just more and more to make her feel better.
After a long while she's barely recognizable from her past self, save for her hair, the lifeless stare all pilots hounds have, and the muzzle permanently attached to her face.
some of my favorite mecha gifs ive saved recently,, hehe
so cool,,
Gotta be trained in such a way that they have to put big warning signs on my mech's access hatch which say "CAUTION. BITE RISK. SEDATE BEFORE REMOVAL."
