Spoilers for the game

Instead of Robert II simply being shot, he was blown apart by shroud. Robert Robertson III never got the chance to be MechaMan, and the mech itself has been blown beyond repair. Elliot gets thrown in jail for about 15 years before being encouraged to become part of the Phoenix program.

Elliot Connors was just a human, and without his augmentation, he wasn't seen as too much of a threat. He never tried to escape, having no real reason to, and was promised a shorten sentence if he participated with SDN. Elliot only agreed when Blonde Blazer asked. Corners does not have faith in the Z-Team or the program. He does however, say the right things to piss off the crew enough to accomplish the missions out of spite.

Robert Robertson the third is alive but not well. He felt jilted out of the legacy his father planned for him. His entire purpose taken away in one explosive display. He doesn't forgive Shroud for taking away his father or for murdering the machine ment for him. Shroud's mask and some equipment were handed over to the Brave Briggade for disposal, however the infamous red mask was missing from the ensemble.

There is no Mecha Man. All there is left is the Mantle.
