A screenshot of a WIP that I havenât made much progress on because of an emergency move. My apartment flooded and this past week and a half/ 2 weeks Iâve been scrambling to get all my stuff moved into a new unit - crazy when there is a house of 5 to move. It has been a complete nightmare that I would not wish upon anyone but we are finally done. This weekend I should be able to set everything up in the new apartment and then I should be back to business as usual finally cause I have like 6 things Iâm in the middle of drawing plus a collab I havenât even started yet (you know who you are Iâm so sorry thank you for being patient!)
Flambert myth of Persephone au. This is gonna be Elliot as a very very very controlling Demeter that saps Robertâs energy/power for himself.
it's my birthday today so I'm posting a snippet of that mechatoxicshroud fic because I, like Robert, want attention đâš
will also consider suggestions for the smut portion if anyone has any requests :3c
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Truth. Justice. The American Way. The cracks in the facade appear.
Elliot had miscalculated. Heâd forgotten that laws donât erase prejudices and ignorance. That one could follow the letter of the law and still make an unjust decision. Because this was bullshit - Mia had provided plenty of evidence that Oracle had ties to the community through Elliot and had been a model prisoner even when it hadnât been considered one. If Oracle had been an organic being, there wouldnât have been a problem getting bail. But this stupid fucking judge was too old to bother with keeping up with the times and now Elliot and Oracle were going to suffer for it.
Bailiffs were attempting to escort Oracle back to the holding cells, but it was moving at a glacial pace and it was far too heavy for them to move with force - supers with the strength necessary to carry something as dense as the automaton tended not to go for courthouse jobs.
All Oracleâs mobile optics had fled to its back to stare at Elliot as its desperate pings to reestablish connection bounced off the partition.
Mia was attempting to persuade Oracle to comply with the officers. âItâs alright, Oracle. Go with the bailiffs. This isnât over - we can file a motion for reconsideration, or an appealââ
âMore. Appeals?â Even as poorly simulated as the voice was, Oracleâs rising anger was clear.
Elliot closed his eyes. He hoped this would be the one time those fucking breathing exercises would work, but of course they didnât. He had to calm himself enough to think, to talk to Oracle before it decided to stop playing by the rules. If that happened, it would be decades until it got out of prison. While it was behaving and acting silly it was easy to forget that Oracle had crafted its body for violence, and if it decided it was sufficiently threatened it would react accordingly to devastating effect. It was starting to pull back from the connection, its optics scattering over its body as it took in its surroundings and formulated a plan of attack.
He was out of time. He set his implant to scout a solutionâ
âand it came back with one almost immediately.
Au where Elliot didn't kill Robbie he grabbed the astral pulse and snuck out in the night holding Robert. Something in his head told him this would hurt him more knowing his son loves him more then he ever did.
Absolute perfection, taking the most important parts of the Mecha Man legacy- the power source and the future of it- is more of a punishment than killing Robbie.
I feel like Robbie, Mr. Father Of The Year, would notice the astral pulse is missing first and not even think of Robert. He doesn't realize Robert's gone until he's looking for the pulse and he notices how empty the house is all of a sudden.
He makes a missing person report because that's what you're SUPPOSED to do, but he considers finding the pulse way more important than finding his son. Besides, he already suspects who took them, it's just a matter of finding the suspect to get them back.
Meanwhile, this opens up the door for Robert to be raised as a villain! Elliot gives Robert the childhood he never had with Robbie's training getting in the way, and Robert chooses to help Elliot when he gets older, rather than be part of the family legacy he was born into and had no choice in.
Nonbinary!Robert
Shroud: You're your father's son-
Robert: I'm working on the son part.
Shroud: ...
Shroud: Whatever the fuck you are you're his kid.
Prev ref.
Shroud/Elliot either honestly doesn't remember what Robert was born as or identifies as, Or he's just making assumptions based on Robert taking on the "Mecha Man" name.
Either way, he wants to mentally destroy him using the correct pronouns.
top tier mechatoxicshroud dynamic is two mortal enemies + the obnoxious dork who reallllllly wants to get in on that action đ„ș
You know, looking at how Shroud talks about heroes, he respects Blonde Blazer for being a "true hero", and will harp on others.
But he never says this about Mecha Man Blue. Sure he's willing to kill Robert over the Astral Pulse, he wants it, he made it, he feels like it's meant to be his. But Shroud never says that Robert *wasn't* a real hero, when he very well could have used the same insults that many othere have. (Just in a suit, nepo baby, etc)
I think that if Mecha Man returned without the Astral Pulse, Shroud would actually leave Robert alone, because he knows that Robert has given up everything for it, and does hero work to *help* people.
