Toby, would you write some Mecky? Because the way Becky looked at Maia in that Halloween episode wasn't subtle. I bet Becky is as pan as Simon. How cute might be Maia protecting Becky from the dangers of the Shadow World.

Maia runs the rag in her hands over the counter, cleaning up the little droplets of water and beer and blood that collect from everyone’s drinking. Her eyes scan the bar, looking for the cute girl-- Simon’s sister. She’s really gotta stop calling her cute girl in her head. Really Maia shouldn’t be thinking anything about Rebecca, she’s Simon’s sister for fuck’s sake. 

Maia shakes her head, going back to keeping the bar when something tickles at the edge of her hearing. Maia tosses her rag down, wandering through the back of the bar towards the back door. She takes a step out, her breath stopping as she sees a blonde vampire hovering over Rebecca. 

“Hey,” Maia calls out, shining her green wolf eyes at the vampire. “Get the fuck away from her!” Before waiting for a reaction, Maia runs forward, shoving the vampire away and onto her ass. 

The vampire hisses, showing off her fangs, her eyes on Rebecca. There’s a moment where she seems to weigh her options before turning and running away with vampire speed. 

“Hey,” Maia asks gently, “you okay?”

Rebecca’s eyes are wide as she nods. “I’m fine. But holy shit, that was hot.”

“I’m sorry what?”

Rebecca covers her mouth with her hand, her cheeks turning a pretty pink color and no, Maia does not find that cute. At all. Nope. 

“Sorry. My brother and I both have that brain to mouth filter broken.”

Maia snorts in amusement, helping Rebecca to stand, trying to ignore her hands tingle at the touch. “Let me buy you a coffee tomorrow,” Rebecca blurts out. “You know, as a thank you for saving me.”

“Rebecca,” Maia starts but pauses when Rebecca talks over her. 

“It’s Becky. Call me Becky, Maia.”

She should say no. Everything inside her is telling her this is a bad idea. With all the intent to say no, Maia opens her mouth says, “yes.”

Mecky is the bartender of Dixie’s bar and also her best friend. She is a steam and clockwork powered robotic coyote.

She was built during the revolutionary war as an experimental mechanical soldier but she proved to be too expensive to build so she was the only one made. She saw time in this war as well as the Civil War fighting for the North before being captured by the South.

After being put away she was shut down and slept for many years being moved place to place before being rescued by Dixie at an antique shop.

Now she’s a bartender and spends her free time online and around town learning about the modern world

She’s picked up a southern accent from hanging around Dixie and New Orleans and everyone that comes to Dixie’s bar knows her by name
