plot a. viktor would rather do without council galas, but begrudgingly agrees to attend with jayce. to his surprise, once jayce is swept away by other councilmembers, viktor finds unexpected company in mel. as the evening unfolds, they discover they share more in common than they ever imagined.

plot b. viktor hesitates when mel asks for his help with translating old zaunite texts. whispers of a brewing revolt have reached even the upper halls of piltover, and he’s not sure where offering his aid will place him ... traitor or pawn. maybe mediator. but as they work through ancient undercity texts, something shifts. maybe peace without the use of weapons isn’t a myth after all.

plot c. mel and viktor find themselves drawn to one another, yet repelled by one another in that same breath. their connection deepens even as the magic in the arcane that binds them drives them to opposite fates ⸻ her ascendant, his unraveling.

Vi had mixed feelings about some of the council members. The initial meeting with them to work to help Zaun had been a flop, in her eyes. Exactly what she had expected. Caitlyn was so optimistic, and while she had seen the troubles of the Undercity thanks to her time with Vi, she had never truly lived it. Vi had, and then Vi felt the hand of Piltovan 'justice' day after day for seven years. How could she let something like that go. Mel at least had seemed to be a more reasonable council woman, and she saved Caitlyn's life. Vi didn't hate her, she just still had some things to work out.

A lot of things.

With a shake of her head, the young woman let her arms hang at her sides. "It's not so simple. Where I grew up, it felt like Piltover just didn't give a damn about us, and then in that meeting it felt like our concerns, my concerns for my people, were being brushed aside. Didn't exactly give me a good first impression." She sighed, maybe Mel deserved better than that, she wasn't rude like some of the others. "But, you, I know I was against your proposal of negotiations, but you were about the only one who sounded like you cared about my people. So, I guess, thanks... for that."

drew  lingers  near  the  door,  fingers  fiddling  with  the  cufflinks  of  his  jacket  as  he  waits.  he  hadn't  planned  on  sticking  around  very  long,  hoping  to  get  out  and  home  to  get  some  long  overdue  sleep.  he'd  been  working  non-stop  for  days  other  than  a  few  short  naps  in  the  on  call  rooms,  and  he  didn't  particularly  want  to  socialize  for  that  long.  but  then  he  saw  a  familiar  face  ...  and  he  had  to  stick  around.  at  least  for  a  while.  when  she  finally  drifts  out  of  the  room  he  clears  is  throat  to  catch  her  attention,  a  smile  pulling  at  his  lips  as  he  takes  a  step  forward,  “ long  time  no  see. ”    |  @med4rda  ♡

𝐄𝐙𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋’𝐒  𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐒  𝐌𝐎𝐕𝐄  to  roll  in  front  of  each  other,  moving  as  he  speaks—this  had  not  been  the  first  time  that  Ezreal  had  been  within  the  grasp  of  the  councilwoman  (  it  probably  wouldn’t  be  the  last  )—and  even  if  it  WAS  the  first  time;  Ezreal’s  parents  were  so  well  know  in  Piltover  despite  their  disappearance—The  couple  had  brought  many  artifacts  to  the  city  which  remained  on  display  in  His  uncle  Lymere’s  museum,  as  well  as  their  wealth  (  not  to  mention  all  of  the  trouble  Ezreal  had  caused—not  only  at  the  university,  but  for  Piltover  and  Zaun  as  a  whole  from  sticking  his  nose  in  places  he  shouldn’t  have  );  so  for  Ezreal  to  be  unknown  to  anyone  in  this  city,  especially  someone  like  𝐌𝐄𝐋  𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐀,  would  be  quite  the  feat  for  the  young  explorer.

“I’ve  been  back  in  Piltover  for  like,  three  days!  Do  I  deceive  people  here  and  there?  Sure,  okay,  maybe  a  little—BUT!  I’m  not  doing  that  RIGHT  now???”

She'd stayed by her side as long as they let her, but the doctors had to come back in and check on her, and she was ushered right out. It's in these moments that Vi felt especially helpless. Just seeing Caitlyn battered and bleeding when she finally got to the square, her heart dropped to the pit of her stomach. For a brief, horrifying moment, she thought she lost Caitlyn too. She followed the medics back to her house, keeping vigil over her bed rest, refusing to sleep until she knew she was okay.

But out here, in the great hall, below the portrait of the Kiramman family, she sat, feeling so tiny in the plush chair. It was probably bad manners to have her boot up on the cushion as she hugged her knee, she could hear Caitlyn scolding her for it. But it's a different voice that broke through the silence. The council woman, Mel.

They had only met a handful of times, never under happy situations, it was either pleading for Zaun, or at the memorial, or planning for a war. The trend seemed to continue now. Her head lifted from its place in her arm, tired grey eyes regarding the woman of warm and golden hues. A sigh left scarred lips as she shifted in the chair, carefully minding her broken arm. "I can't lose her too..." Especially after just losing Jinx Powder and Vander, "she's the first person who showed me kindness since I got thrown in that hellhole."

Purple and gold are complementary colors... And how mesmerizing their different colored magic looks next to one another. Although Mel has proven herself to be a magical prodigy, no amount of innate skill can make up for training. Hence, they had spent the afternoon practicing and refining their magical abilities. He knew better than to hold back -- both out of respect for her and out of necessity. She needs to maintain a tight grip on her arcane skills in order to prevent the Black Rose from daring to attack her again (or at least from daring to attack her head on).

The soft purple glow from his palms fade as they end their sparring for the day. "You and I draw magic from different sources. Your magic is powerful. From my experience the more powerful the magic, the more powerful the price. Do not push yourself past the point of no return," he warns her, although he takes care to soften his words by pairing it with a gentle kiss on the forehead. "Will her majesty rest without protest today or will I need to resort to bribery?"

well jayce thinks he's good. that's up for interpretation. he is generally very present, observant, responsive, and eager to please, so he tries very hard ( ha ha ha ) to be good, focusing on their enjoyment because that gets him going as much as the inverse. he's also busy, and his partners usually are too, so he always likes to take advantage of those situations when he can. not just for both of them to have the opportunity to get off, but so maybe they think about him later.

he wants whoever he is with to have a good time, and he's amiable to whatever that means for them in most cases. and when it's the reverse and they're focused on him he can get a little flustered and embarrassingly desperate 😔
