NEW YORK (PRWEB) MARCH 27, 2019
Mediaplanet today announces the launch of its edition of “Global Vision and Hearing” publishing as a centerfold insert within USA TODAY. This campaign will advocate for the visually and hearing impaired worldwide by showcasing the leading individuals and organizations that are pushing the needle forward, inspiring our readers to support global vision and hearing via their initiatives.
It is estimated that 1.3 billion people live with some form of visual impairment — this despite approximately 75 percent of cases being preventable. For those in low-income communities, vision impairment is a huge factor in the cycle of poverty. Without proper treatment, the right to education, decent work and overall health and well-being are nearly impossible.
The print component of “Global Vision & Hearing” is distributed within today’s edition of USA Today in the Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Washington D.C./Baltimore markets, with a circulation of approximately 250,000 copies and an estimated readership of 750,000. The digital component is distributed nationally, through a vast social media strategy, and across a network of top news sites and partner outlets. To explore the digital version of the campaign, click here.
Vision activist and global rock band member Casey Harris is featured on the cover of this print edition. He suffers from a rare genetic condition, and the 28-year-old has been visually impaired since birth. Now, as an ambassador for musicians conquering disability, Harris sheds light on some of the most challenging aspects of being a blind musician, and the importance of focusing on the things that make you truly happy. “Having a disability forces you to realize and embrace the things you like and don’t like faster than you would have otherwise,” Harris says of the life lessons visual impairment has taught him.
This campaign was made possible with the support of the Brian Holden Institute Our Children’s Vision Himalayan Cataract Project Cure Blindness, American Optometric Association, The Vision Council HG Bell Foundation.
