Personal Curriculum ideas -
I thought I would share some ideas as I am doing my own research / planning for my own curriculum ideas!
1. Animals - What are your favorite animals? You can have curriclum on just that species, or a genre of species. I am planning on doing at least a 'semester' of Shark research. I love sharks so so much! I want to learn more about sharks and their parts in the echosystem.
2. Hobbies - Is there a hobby you want to get into? Ceramics, painting, creative writing, (even videogames) - Learn about the history or get into the hobby yourself.
3. Baking or Cooking - Think about highschool! They have classes about baking and cooking, and so can you. Do you have a type of food you want to learn to cook. You can add this into types of curriculum if you want - lanquage / history
4. Religion. - I want to learn more about paganism, as well as greek and egyption gods etc. If you are catholic, a satanist, pagan yourself, etc add this to your curriculum.
5. Genre deep dives. If you are a reader and you want to read different types of genres make it part of or a curriculum of its own. You could also make this a movie genre deep dive. Your own film class if you will.
6. Fashion. Do you love fashion? Get into the history of fashion, go by years. In addition if you want to get into sewing you could add that into your fashion curriculum.
7. Mythos - Urban Legends - Cryptids - If you are the kind of person who loves mythology or wants to learn more about these in general you can set it as a curriculm.
8. Seasons/Holidays - Depending on how you are setting up your curriculum you could do reserach on the history of Holidays. Where did they begin from, what do different countries do for those holidays etc.
9. Gardening. - You could make a curriculum to research the right kind of plants for your area, when to plant, and build your own garden during this time.
10. Fitness. Now I know what youre thinking, but highschool has gym, even college does. You can take classes on thsi so why cant you build a curriculum based on fitness? Swim, Yoga, just general working out. Maybe this will be a way to motivate you to do it more regularly?
Think about your interests. What were your favorite classes in school? Don't let that disapear.
Other things I suggest to do to really get into the personal curriculum
Feild Trips. - If you're doing animal reserach go to a zoo or aquarium.
Go to your local library - Not only does the library offer books on whatever you're trying to reserach they often have classes or know where you can find classes to attend.
Think about your interests.
Personal curriculum doesn't need to / shouldn't have to break your bank. The point of this is to not spend a ton on your education. There should be ways to find free recourses in whatever you're into. Though if you have the means / want to go ahead and go to a class held in your community.
