tw mental illness and meds
I'm having a dumb episode bc I've screwed up my meds over the holidays and don't have the right anxiety meds but I'm taking an Adderall sub for the depression plus I drank coffee bc it's comforting but we don't have decaf anymore so I'm having a lot more anxiety than I'm used to. It's still a v familiar feeling. I don't build up a mental panic but my body gets scared, my chest tightens and my stomach feel a little sick, breathing is sharper, shallow. I can deal with it though. I felt that almost constantly in high school. I can fall back into that being my new norm.
But the fucking depression. Dudes. Why. is it so. much. worse. When I started meds I thought it was all anxiety but the more I talk w my psych the more it seems like the anxiety was just a sideffect of the much more problematic depression. The depressed lable scares me. Being chronically sad scares me. At least the anxiety is stimulating, I did stuff out of fear and discomfort lol. But when the hits Jesus it's like I'm appathetic about everything I know I need to be invested in, and the 1% of emotion my brain computes is selfpity; I'm sad that I don't care.
Any advice on getting yourself to take your medications?
I got two types of meds, both I need to take in the morning, one half an hour before I eat and the other after I eat.
I'm really... not so good at taking meds. in fact I am pretty terrible and tend to “forget” (which is not the right word, I don’t really forget and I know I need to take it, but I don’t)
and this is shitty on so many levels and I feel guilty and hate myself for not takng the meds but that doesn’t help.
anyone have the same problem? is there any advice u can give me on keeping my meds schedule going on?
(via Not Tablets or Capsules But food and drinks to Slay your Anxiety)
a new study shows that people with generalized anxiety disorder unconsciously label harmless things as threats, which may serve to further their anxiety.
Has anyone here been on fluoxetine ('prozac') before? Did you get any of the bad side effects?
So my insurance still hasn’t unfucked itself so my medicine is $267 for a months worth and I can’t afford it with the check I just got so I’m gonna be without one of my medications for TWO WEEKS! FUN TIMES!!
And without the $267 dollar stuff, my other meds make me sleepy fml
wow.
I’m already feeling way better. People aren’t kidding about Effexor having a shitty discontinuation syndrome.
I hate being this reliant on something that has this many side-effects but eh. My depression is far more dangerous than a slightly elevated heart rate. The headaches are under control, and tbh I’ll probably have dizziness/vertigo problems no matter what medication I take cuz I’m already prone to that stuff.
My neurologist gave me a new med to help give me energy to combat my daily EDS. It's amphetamine salts. Basically the generic of adderall. I Am very jittery. Still sleepy but I can feel the energy flowing through me. I feel like someone plugged me into an outlet and I now have electricity for blood. The only downside is the nausea that makes me not wanna get out of bed. Hopefully, after a few days, that will go away.
