The duo of Rogers & MacFarlane designed this 1905 home for Edward Hunting Jewett. After graduating from Notre Dame University in 1893, he and his brother, Harry, came to Detroit, starting H. M. Jewett & Company, a mining and wholesale coal business. The firm was later renamed Jewett, Bigelow & Brooks, with Edward serving as Vice President. He was also one of the original founders and directors of the Paige - Detroit Motor Car Company, later Graham - Paige Motors Corporation. In 1921, he started the Jewett Radio & Phonograph Company. In '25, Jewett Radio & Phonograph purchased WCX Radio, owned by the Detroit Free Press, becoming WJR (We're Jewett Radio). Since December 1928, the station has been broadcasting "from the golden tower of the Fisher Building." Shortly thereafter, Mr. Jewett retired, splitting his time between his residences in Bloomfield Hills and Melbourne, Florida. He died in Melbourne in 1930. #Detroit #Eastside #IndianVillageDetroit #TudorRevival #MedievalRevival #archi_ologie #oldhouselove #casasecasarios #houses_ofthe_world #beautifulhouseoldandnew #TheAmericanHome #RawDetroit #PureMichigan #PureMittigan #MotorCityShooters #PureDetroit313 #DepictTheD #VisitDetroit #Michiganders #ThisPlaceMatters #ThisPlaceMattersDetroit #MichiganPlacesMatter #NikonD3400 #NikonNoFilter (at Indian Village, Detroit)
