Lots of poppies flowering at the moment so here is my Leek Embroidery version. This style of embroidery originated in Leek, Staffordshire. Block printed and naturally dyed textiles were embroidered with twisted silk, some of the fabrics being designed by William Morris. Mine is a Liberty cotton print embroidered with a mix of twisted silk and Japanese metal thread, a project from my Thread Painting book.

Every so often something beautiful comes along and you just have to own it even for a short while. This #morrisandco secretaire display cabinet, Ca 1895 we believe, by #georgewashingtonjack was one such piece. Just in, we could not resist the sheer quality of construction, the inlay, the materials the proportions, all exceptional.
