send me an au and i’ll give you 5+ headcanons about it; accepting!

1. Erwin is particularly gifted at politics; knowing how to pull strings and manipulate to his advantage. Reading was important to him as a child and learning, especially since he was quite aware of how cutthroat noble factions could be to those who were lacking in insight. 

2. He is a difficult man to please, and no amount of flattery will ever win his attention. He is a man of action since words more often than naught, mean nothing at the end of the day.

3. His mother was not of noble birth, which created quite a scandal for many years. This made Erwin have to work twice as hard to prove himself, so he tends to adopt a perfectionist way of doing things for himself.

4. He snuck out a lot as a teenager, much to the annoyance of both castle staff and the guards. Erwin liked to come up with rather interesting ways in breaking out of the castle. Thankfully, not many really knew what he looked like among the poor.

5. Horseback riding and swordplay are his specialties, Erwin feeling much more comfortable with a blade in his hand than he is sitting on the throne and having to make decisions that he may not approve of. On a horse, he feels free, whereas on the throne, he feels as if he’s trapped in a cage.
