Five Questions-Medrea
I've been enjoying Medrea's eclectic blend of genres and sounds lately, so caught up with him to ask Five Questions.
Do you have a musical background?
Yeah, my mum has been obsessed with the whole cheesy nineties house music thing for ages and brought me up on faithless and the classic jam hot mix tape. My dad is a drummer as well so it goes without saying about my musical background.
When did you first start producing music?
Well In the electronic sense where you sit on your computer for hours coming up with noise; that would be about a year and a half, but I have been making music on anything i could learn quick enough to get into like a guitar or drum-kit etc...
How has your sound developed since then?
Well since 'Dubstep' came about I think that was the start of a real progression from mainstream electronic club music to whatever I'm making now.
What really inspires you?
People like James Blake, XXYYXX, SBTRKT and Disclosure, who are taking electronic music further than the club and bringing it into a live format; For someone like me who is currently working with Traktor Pro S4, it sounds like something I really want (to get) into.
Finally, what kind of equipment/software do you use to create your sound?
I've been heavily using Logic Pro 9 for the entire time that I have been making electronic music, and shortly after starting with logic I got my hands on Massive and FM8 for synths.
Realistically, the things I listed are about it!
Great Disco influenced remix of an equally good Hip-Hop tune. The 'post-dubstep' chords carry the track nicely, as Gardna laces the tune with his ode to playing vinyl records with a girl and comparing her to various elements of a track.
