if there’s one thing konoha
certainly knows about
life, even if he doesn’t
realize it, it would be the
primitive needs &
impulses of human nature.
despite having a cold,
unfeeling body, he knows
that others do not &
how susceptible they
are to heat & cold, at
least in extended
exposure to it.
that’s why mary’s
clothing choice doesn’t
make sense to him
as he tugs the sleeve
of her frilly dress,
inferring that she must
be burning up.
“mary...if you’re hot...
you shouldn’t wear that.”
Haruka slowly froze up, dark eyes going wide as the gears in his brain slowed to a stop.
That… What did that sentence mean?
“ Is that some sort of joke…? I don’t really get it. “
The boy tried to force a smile, to laugh it off and forget about this and see Takane the next day and be happyfor just a little longer...
but his smile became a grimace instead.
It wasn’t a joke, was it?
This wasn’t supposed to happen. She wasn’t supposed to die before him. He spent the entirety of his time with her believing firmly that, one way or another, he would be the one to go first.
She couldn’t just LEAVE him...
—What?
No, no, no. He didn’t just think that. That wasn’t him. He was... He was just sad.
Twisting the event of someone passing on into something as self-centered as leaving him? It had to be the sadness talking.
It had to.
The “smile” had long since dropped from his face, but the tears in his eyes hadn’t yet fallen. Quickly, aggressively, he wiped them away with the sleeve of his sweater, but they just didn't stop.
Takane wouldn’t want to see him like this,
so he shouldn’t act like this.
No matter how much it hurt, he had to keep smiling.
"Have you seen my broom? It kinda just took off on it's own after I almost dropped him into a fireplace." She isn't entirely surprised it got fed up with her, but it could have waited for her to apologize at least!
