Meet in the Middle || Elijah & Faith

It's dead quiet, every moment dragging on and on until Faith's tiny body finally makes contact with the pavement and the world comes screaming back to her. She hits her side, hard, and rolls once, twice. Comes to a stop face-down on the rain-soaked New Orleans concrete. Some alley, somewhere.

Faith winces and it feels like she's taking her time as she pushes off the ground, climbs to her feet at a stagger and throws a glare at the beast responsible for her thirty-second flight. She reaches up, brushes blood off the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand and her wince stretches into a wicked, wild grin. This? This she likes.

Her bearings will have to wait because her fangy little friend is looking just a bit cocky for her liking. She's slow, at first. Walking a catwalk between the two in that damp, wretched alley until she's close enough to take a swing. It catches her arm and returns her grin only long enough for Faith to head-butt him, get him to stagger back, and give her room to kick a boot print into his smug jaw. She goes in for another punch and, somewhere behind her, someone screams and takes the vampire's attention in a different direction. It's hungry, and it knows it's not going to drink Faith in anytime soon, so it tries to barrel around her and go for the two little girls who'd been it's intended targets to begin with. She’s fast, but she's not nearly as quick on the draw and if she doesn't make up the distance and fast, he'll get there before she does --- and that's not an option.
