Now that we’ve talked about Valkyrie, I think the floodgates have been opened. I can now say EXACTLY what I’ve wanted to say about Megahammer on this blog.
Sure, you can mention that it’s a robot with big hammers for hands, but come on. Look at it. This robot has boobs.
I mean, I don’t know what else the character designers were expecting us to think when they put two big round orbs smack-dab on the chest like that. I mean, what else are these even supposed to read as? Weak points, I guess! But let’s face it! Even then you don’t think “Oh! The big round orbs on this guy’s chest are its weak points!” You think “Oh! This guy’s weak points are its boobs!”
And that is how you fight Megahammer. If you were able to divert your eyes for a couple seconds to any other part of Megahammer, you might’ve noticed the Bill Blasters between its boobs! They will periodically alternate between firing Bullet Bills and Banzai Bills, the former of which you can gobble up with Yoshi and fire back at its boobs.
I want you to know in advance, if I ever go rogue and you have to defeat me, I’m defeated in the exact same manner.
Surprise plot twist! Megahammer has a third, secret boob on its back, which also needs a Bullet Bill to be broken. This is true of the boss fight against myself, as well.
After destroying all of Megahammer’s boobs with Bullet Bills, the cockpit (which I’ll spare you and say is not another secret boob) has to be hit with two more Bullet Bills, officially defeating Megahammer and ending its reign of Titty Terror.
Or, mostly ending, as the destroyed remains of Megahammer appear in Bowser Jr.’s Boom Bunker, with the Bill Blasters still fully operational.
Honestly I’m still surprised a character design like this got approved at all, unless the character designers were fully aware of what they were doing, and were giggling as hard as we were the first time we played the game. That being said, there is totally a missed opportunity with the more difficult rematch against this guy...
