On April 7, as the cherry blossom petals swirled, I loaded up both my characters, cleaned up everything as best as I was able, placed several armloads of toys at my train station, and updated the dream of Megatown for what is very likely the final time.
I’ve done my best to make Megatown a welcoming and interesting town for people to explore. Since the Welcome Amiibo update, 42 people have visited. I won’t pretend I’m not disappointed by that, but I’m also not the least bit surprised.
If you want to see it, by all means do so. I timed it so that the lights in Nester’s Illuminated Park should come on about five minutes after the dream starts, which I’ve always found to be very pretty. It’s just northwest of the starting spot in front of the town tree.
I still don’t know what to do with this town. How to end it gracefully. It almost feels sad to play it now. The villagers still greet me as cheerfully as ever, and I can’t tell them that it’s time to move on. They can’t. They’re not programmed for that.
