“I get it, you can’t help who you fall in love with, Cas, but Meg?” Dean had questioned his best friend, a confused look on his face as he tried to figure out why the angel had fallen for the demon.

“I don’t know how. I don’t know why but it just happened. I can’t help but feel things for her. She drives me crazy but I find the notion intoxicating.” Castiel tried to explain, his brows buried into the bridge of his nose as he thought about why Meg had captured his heart but then he remembered, the way she smelled had tipped him over the edge. “Her scent, it was flowery but also sweet, like candy.”

“Oh no.”

“Dean, what are you thinking?” Sam jumped up from his seat, moving closer to his brother and friend.

“C’mon Sam, you can’t tell me that you haven’t heard of this before?” Dean pulled a face, looking incredulous at his own words. He couldn’t believe that he was going to say his next words. “Cas loves Meg because they have a connection. Cas smells nothing but flowers and candy. Meg don’t smell like that to us but it’s different for him. It is because Meg is Cas’ true mates.”

“That’s the soulmates thing, right?” Dean nodded and Sam continued. “But how is that possible? An angel and a demon, aren’t they meant to be sworn enemies?”

“The angels and demons are not that dissimilar from each other, it’s like an Alpha with another Alpha or an Omega with an Omega. It isn’t the average pairing but it can happen, it is rare but it does happen on far and few occasions.” Castiel tried to explain, even though he had barely had an idea of what it meant himself. He knew of the true mates concept but also knew that it was a sporadic entity. “I am just confused that it’s happening between Meg and I. I have this bond with her and I can’t help but being drawn to her like Icarus to the sun or a moth to a flame. She’s constantly attracting me to her and I don’t know why she is so tempting but I love her and I want to make her my Omega.”

“Okay that crazy talk is just the pheromones and the bond that you too have but if that’s what the universe wants I would not disobey it at all.” Dean was reluctant but his words were ones to stick by. He needed Cas to know that although he didn’t like Meg all that much, he didn’t despise her either. Dean believed that the universe had something planned for Cas and Meg, he wasn’t sure whether it was good or bad but he had to trust the universe with the bond that they had.

Minutes later, Castiel’s phone rang, gingerly he answered after noticing that it was Meg calling. “Hello, Meg.”

“Clarence. You must have butt dialled me because I heard everything you said and I wanted to tell you I don't understand this true mates thing but I feel it too. I love you, Clarence.”
