Meglos: I can't say the talking cactcus was the strongest start to any Doctor Who serial, but then it somehow became a Tom Baker doppleganger.... On that point, the whole plot was baffling....Why did it start with the Doctor and Romana in a time loop? What was going on with the rough-looking fellows and with the weird underground cult? I didn't get any of these people's motives. If I'd watched it on more than an hour's sleep per night, would I have understood more of it? (answer: probably). And then we had Tom, doubled up, talking to himself in his shirtsleeves, and I realised I actually couldn't care less about not following the plot, because honestly, that made me so happy that I didn't actually give a shit about how we got to that point. We got there, and that was the important thing.
