10 Things I Learned from My Friends in High School

1). You are never too good to talk to someone. They may be your best friend in a year, so take chances on people, they might surprise you. 2). Broken Hearts can heal if you have people to help you replace your bandages. 3). Math and Science are wonderful pursuits, but don't forget the history and the language, and the culture that make you a human. 4). Don't waste your time doing things that don't make you happy. Filling your schedule can either be the best experience of your life, or your own personal hell, so choose your organizations, activities, and people with great care. But make sure you do things, because video games and books get lonely late at night. 5). Significant others come and go, so don't sacrifice your friendships for them. Especially not if you are competing against your friend over them. It ends in hurt feelings and bad vibes. 6). Lies and secrets are unpleasant, and can ruin any kind of relationship or trust faster than anything. The truth can be a bitch, but sometimes it's better than losing a relationship. 7). True friends are there for you whether you are sending crazy pictures on snapchat, having existential crises and rant sessions at 1 in the morning, or crying over the crap hand life has dealt you. 8). Don't sit on the fence, not even to spare feelings. It wastes your time, and it wastes everyone else's. Ultimately, the sooner you make a decision, the sooner everyone involved can move on with their life. 9). Soul Mates come in all shapes and sizes. They may be the person you are going to marry. They may be the one person who can tolerate all of your music. They may be the person who eats the same kind of pizza as you (even if it has mushrooms on it). Your soul mate may be your best friend for the rest of your life. They may be every one of those things. But don't think that your only soul mate comes in shining armor while riding a white horse, because there are 7 billion people on this Earth, and chances are, you'll love more than one. 10). Forgive and forget, but don't forget to Love. Love as a friend, as a sibling, as a child, as a S/O, as an enemy. Love people when they come to you asking for forgiveness. Love people when they annoy the hell out of you. Love someone while they stab you in the back. When you love one another, you'll get so much more out of life than if you live in jealousy and hatred. When you love people, you surprise them. Very little comes out of revenge or hatred. But no other satisfaction in life will ever come close to the satisfaction of loving someone when they don't expect you to.
