Start from jinga or parallel. The first step must be on the diagonal but more forward then side. And make sure feet are not too close together. Low and wide is generally better.
Aim to place the leading foot in the same place every time to keep the movement clean and balanced.
Hand/s to the floor and twist so as to look past the leg that is waiting to kick.
Keep both feet planted and build torque by twisting the hips/waist. Keep your eyes on the target.
Keep your kicking leg straight through the arc, and at the high point your foot should be horizontal. If your toes are pointing down that means your body is too “closed”, you need to get your shoulders and hips in a more vertical line. If your toes are pointing up it’s gonna be a strange queixada and you may fall on your bum.
Pull your toes toward you so that you hit with the back of the heel rather than reaching out to touch with the sole of your foot.
If you keep one hand planted on the floor through the kick it will force your head to stay low and protected -> much better than rising up straight into partner’s follow-up compasso!!
