Post Pop: East meets West at the Saatchi Gallery
“I believe that Warhol, his works, his figure, are very important and actual for us all because, as you know, what you can’t get away from you must learn to love. It is the only way out. Warhol is an excellent teacher in this, since he did come to love the inevitable presence of mass images.”
Pavel Pepperstein, commenting on Sots Art,the starting point for the Russian version of Pop Art.

One of my favorite things.
Komar & Melamid, Bayonne New Jersey Workers - Fragment from Bergen Point Brass Foundry, 1988
'Composer Dave Soldier and artists Komar & Melamid took an online poll on their website, and then used the data to scientifically compose The Most Unwanted Song of all time. The song is twenty-two minutes and features instruments like bagpipes, tubas and the banjo, with political slogans, advertising jingles and cowboy lyrics. They manage to translate into orchestral rock-band church-music punctuated with high pitched sounds and abrupt changes in pace and mood that they claim: "Fewer than 200 individuals of the worlds total population will enjoy this.'
I have listened to this so many times over the last few years that I know pretty much the entire thing inside out. Please do listen to the whole song, it is easily one of my favourites.
It's worth listening to the 'most wanted song' as well if only to hear the Eternal track that never was.
