Melisso di Samo, allievo di Parmenide, riprende e difende alcune dottrine del maestro, quale:

1 l'essere non è generato o dovremmo supporre l'esistenza di un essere prima dell'essere che possa averlo generato o che l'essere sia stato generato dal non-essere. Ma questo è assolutamente impossibile.

2 l'essere è immobile poiché se fosse soggetto al movimento si potrebbe trasformare in non-essere. Ma questo è assolutamente impossibile.

3 l'essere è uno o sarebbe limitato da altri e quindi o da un altro essere o dal non-essere. Ma questo è assolutamente impossibile.

4 l'essere è eterno e quindi fuori dal tempo o nel mutare del tempo potrebbe trasformarsi in non-essere. Ma questo è assolutamente impossibile.

Da Parmenide fino ad Aristotele la storia della filosofia può considerarsi come il tentativo di superare le contraddizioni della teoria degli Eleati.

Here's melissophobia, fear of bees. She is spheks sister, she is way shorter them sphek, she is not hostile at all and will only sting if felt threatened or is absolutely necessary, the reason for this is she has barbs on her stinger (I heard that that is why a bees stinger gets pulled off when they sting) so instead of dying when she stings someone like a normal bee, her barbs get pulled off and she will become very weak and vulnerable until her barbs grow back. ~mod nerdy
