🐇 What are typical prey you’d find in the territory? Rare or unusual prey? Squirrels, mice, rabbits, frogs, birds, fish, whatever other animals you could find in Upper Michigan! A few treats of fast food are well-liked by the clan as well. (There may or may not be a trading system among non-clan cats).

🐾 Best and worst hunter? Coyoteburn is the worst hunter in RainClan because he doesn't like to hurt things! Schmidt is the best hunter in RainClan(sorry Skipkit) because of him spending a majority of his life on his own.

Hello Ms. Shippen! I just finished s3 of The Bright Sessions and it was crazy. Mark is always making me cry and I especially loved how seamlessly everyone’s separate stories intersect, from the AM to personal dilemmas.

I’m working on writing my own audio series and found that it’s difficult to world-build without overexplaining how things work in the universe I created. I was wondering if you had any tips on how to simplify a story without making listeners wonder why things are the way they are?

Hi there!!! Thank you so much for this note and I’m so glad you love the show! 

I totally hear you on the world-building thing - it can be really tricky! I think the most important first step is for you to understand all the rules of your world. I know this sounds obvious, but as someone who despises things like outlining, planning, etc., it took me a while to figure out. If you know all the bounds of your own world, everything you write in it should all hold together. 

And then, I think you just reveal information when you absolutely need to--it’s best not to overwhelm your audience with information and focus on what they absolutely need to know in the first few episodes, before building on that. Unfold your world slowly and evenly, and you should be able to bring your audience along with you!

i actually don't have one! i'm not a big tea person, but i really want to be. i guess chamomile, just for funsies.

Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with?

Not usually, especially if it's the good stuff lol. If I'm starting a new drawing, the thumbnailing phase is the warmup. If it's continuing an old one, I might work on easier aspects of it first before tackling harder ones

Do you plot your stories?

I usually have at least some idea of where I'm going plot-wise, especially when it's fanfiction and I'm trying to mirror the rhythm of the original work, but mostly, I plan situations to throw my characters into, and then let the scene write itself to a conclusion. I also will sometimes write dialogue with a future echo in mind, and sometimes I write scenes out of order and then go back to structure them. My own writing surprises me on a regular basis, and it's delightful every time.
