the obvious next step: sutoraiku high musical? 😱
I like the way you’re thinking
Hey IVAC! Do you have any thoughts or feelings to share, in retrospect, about the VA anime? And how Confirmed do you feel?
Hm… it’s really hard to put into words.
Maybe if I’d been reviewing weekly, or something like that, I’d be able to explain my feelings better.
The music? Fantastic as always - the JoJo anime’s soundtrack has always been great, and I’ve found myself going back and listening to a few tracks on their own - particularly Ristorante Bar (the sort of casual moment theme), Proiettile (Mista’s theme), and Canzoni Preferite (the torture dance song).
Visuals? Hit and miss, as always, but I’ve also noticed more incredible animation than I think I ever have in any other parts - special shoutouts to the White Album and Metallica arcs in particular. Not only was there a lot of cool and dynamic fight animation, but I appreciated the effort dedicated to expressions, too, which is frequently overlooked in favour of the more flashy stuff.
Voice acting? Shit was fantastic. Especially during the Requiem Sleeps Quietly episodes, where voice actors essentially switched the character they were playing, the tone and inflections felt spot on - especially appreciated when a lot of the time for body swapping shenanigans, they just keep the same person voicing.
As a whole adaptation? A little bit of a mixed bag, and a little confusing in places, even.I really enjoyed where DP added things - the little pre-yacht scene, the whole episode for the assassins’s backstory, finally having Fugo’s backstory included (though I know it was controversial for differing from PHF, and for its subject matter), the time they devoted for Doppio’s backstory, and Abbacchio’s, and even Giorno’s, too - they were all good additions, I think, that helped flesh the world out a little.
But then certain, smaller parts that I enjoyed were cut out, too - the very end of the Beach Boy fight (which was maybe superfluous), and a decent chunk of the Clash/Talking head arc where Narancia said blatantly incorrect stuff and tried writing on his arm (which I can maybe see being cut for making the crew look really dumb for not getting it, but also kind of took some credit from him for thinking of those things).
Some parts that I especially miss, though; the scene of Mista and Narancia chasing frogs - a really goofy and cute moment that only really showed up in the background, so I can maybe excuse that. But what’s most unfortunate is the complete exclusion of Risotto Nero’s own backstory.Given the way that DavidPro had expanded on so much already, I was incredibly excited to see how they’d tackle it, so I can’t help but feel sorely disappointed by the lack of it, even if it meant that we got a lot of other good stuff, too.
In all, despite those points bothering me? It’s nowhere near enough to sour the experience. Even with two filler recap episodes, which they haven’t had to do before (not counting that one that just told the plots of part 1 and 2), which isn’t really that bad, I had a great time experiencing Vento Aureo again, and it was well worth the wait.
[fake title] Takes Two to Tango
Polnareff attempts to teach Kakyoin to fence; Kakyoin attempts to teach Polnareff how to identify when someone is flirting with him. One of them succeeds. Excerpt: “You are too tense, Kakyoin. If you want to be ready to respond to any movement, you must be relaxed.” Polnareff’s large hands push down on Kakyoin’s shoulders, and Kakyoin wobbles. “What are you doing?” he demands. He can feel red painted across his face, proof of his embarrassment. It’s embarrassing to be a beginning in the presence of a master, embarrassing that even without his stand Polnareff’s fencing is beautiful, embarrassing that Polnareff in his fencing clothes is beautiful and even-tempered, immune to all of Kakyoin’s ineffectual verbal jabs. If only Polnareff would stop touching Kakyoin. If only Kakyoin didn’t like him.

Hey Star Platinum. Do you like knitting?
☆ ◐ ╬
☆ Favorite Stand Design - Star PlatinumI just love this guy so much man? His design really called to me a lot, I just dig the color palettes for him so much.
◐Favorite Minor Villain - Hol HorseHim and his stupid Emperor found his way into my goddamn heart okay. He isn’t immediately what I think about as far as fave characters, but he’s up there!
╬Favorite Stand Ability - Death Thirteen, The Hand, The WorldI dig these three so very much to the point I can’t just single one out. I like the functions of existing through dreams, realities, and illusions a lot, I have written about stuff like this in previous fics even before I got into JJBA. I tend to dream extremely vivid, lucid dreams and I nearly almost always remember them afterwards, so it comes to a point that this fascinates me a lot in all sorts of fiction. I also really dig the aesthetic of Death Thirteen. As for The Hand and The World, I adore all things that mess around with time and space. When these were introduced to me as I was watchin’, I fell in love with these stands the most out of the rest for those very reasons.
I recently heard about Pokémon source code leaks for gen 3 and 4 (most details apparently maintained by twitter user @eclipse_tt). Have you been keeping up with these, or have any thoughts about them in general?
I haven’t been keeping up super-closely or looking into it myself because I’ve had no time for that, but what I’ve heard has been fascinating, most recently the thing about higher/lower encounter rates in D/P/Pt on certain dates. Please tell me interesting tidbits that I’ve missed!
