hello forgive me if i sound stupid for asking this, but what is the perfect blue au? just saw your post about it- great sketches btw, they are so cute- and im very intrigued.

This might be kinda long so bear with me-

Basic premise is that its the "paul is dead theory" but it plays out similar to what happens in the movie perfect blue.

And to sum up perfect blue (if u havent seen it or need a refresher), a former pop idol, mima, becomes an actress, and she slowly begins to lose her mind as she is stalked by an obsessive fan. mima also deals with a doppleganger/lookalike, which further drives her into madness*

In the au, paul replaces mima and the theory still goes the same way - he dies in a car crash blah blah blah - but he ends up surviving. Tho he questions if he really did survive or not.

Billy shears is the stalker** and Paul's doppleganger. Billy's the one psychologically tormenting him into believing he died so that he can take his place in the band (and eventually kill paul for real). all the while paul is losing his grip on reality

*this is how I interpret it and for the sake of no spoilers im just gonna leave that as is

**might use someone else as a stalker. i haven't fully fleshed this out yet :p

and yeah, hope this helps a bit! I've seen ppl make fanart of it but this is just my version of it. I was planning on making another post detailing this better so hopefully I make that soon
