I used many different methods to melting the plastic cups. However, since I had decided to work with clear plastic cups melting them was very difficult. I used a heat blower, which did not do the job well. I wanted the heat directed at one point. I then used an open flame (from a candle) which seemed to be the method. To control the material, I first cutting into it then expose the cut area to candle flame. The material’s reacted by moving away the flame, creating hole. I achieve desirable shapes, I turn and twisted the plastic whiles it was still hot. I also manipulated the amount heat each area would receive, based on what shape of the finish object I wanted.

Whiles burning the cups, the flame was too close to areas which left dark marks from the smoke. I liked how  they showed what method I used and the process through out. I love how the plastic cups where transformed into new objects. As shown in the images above, as the cups disfigured more and more their functionality gradually faded. By adding (spray paint) colour, I believe this transformed the material: cup began to look as if it a ceramic or glass.
