I'm thinking about little Melyane again, lost in the Undercity all alone.

I genuinely think people live down there. I also think she must have met some. I also know she was adopted by Very Dangerous Creatures.

I think, actually, that Melyane doesn't live far away from other people. I think they're very close and they'd absolutely come hang out. I think I want to show how people figure stuff out down there, living on the scraps of the SKy City, growing and making their own things with the peculiar ecosystel that started growing down there.

Melyane's a generally sociable person - I'm not sure she'd go out of her way to live with only the creatures and meet zero humans ever.

I think, maybe, she's sociable but easily tired ? She lives a little walk away from where people tend to meet, and she and her dog creature come hang out regularly. She just likes being home, too.
