Art doesn't come privation, suffering and censorship.
Depression, poverty and anxiety surely didn't made me a better artist. It actually did the opposite. Messing up with my school cursus, wasn't able to keep a job, self-doubts everything, having no social life. That destroyed me.
What inspire me to do art is other artists, community, love for a franchise, the desire to improve as a human being, connecting with people, having a good laugh or dream about beautiful landscape, creatures and such. It's exploration, it's the fun, it's the hornyness, it's so many things.
The idea that an artist must be miserable to produce art is a trope and show ignorance of the real topic. Yeah, some people use art to express dark emotion but it's not what fuel them. It's because they do some instrospections or want to talk about injustices. It's about communication and exploring feelings.
That middle-age white man also said stuff like Superman is MAGA and he use genAI so.... yeah, he doesn't understand shit.
