I saw one of my mutuals asking about how to customize memes using an LG phone. I was just going to reblog with instructions but then thought that a visual guide might be more helpful. I'm going to post it in two parts since Tumblr only let's you use 10 images per post.

This will probably get long so I will add a 'keep reading'. This is a visual guide using the free app Meme Generator. Instructions under the cut.

Start by downloading Meme Generator from the Google play store.

Once you've downloaded it. Open the app and click on Custom Meme.

Next click on Gallery.

Select the screenshot you want to use for the meme.

Next you can choose the layout. I usually use classic layout and normal.

Now you have the image uploaded. There's alot of nifty text options, if you want to add text to your meme. You can also tap on the text and click the 'x' if you don't want any text.

The focus of this post is how to customize a meme using the app's sticker feature. You'll want to click on the '+ sticker' button in the bottom right corner.

Next click on 'create sticker' again in the bottom right corner.

Click on Gallery and select the screenshot with the image you want to use on your meme.

Next you'll have the option to crop out the parts of the image you don't need.

Once you're finished you can use the eraser tool to erase any of the image you weren't able to crop out. There's a nice zoom feature you can use to zoom in and you can make the eraser smaller to crop around the finer details.

LEXX, I need HELP!!!!!

I want to participate in the Dannypokolypse this year, but I have no idea how to stick the Danny face onto things! Teach me your ways!!!!!

So I don’t know about you, but I don’t have photoshop, and I’m on a Mac so I can’t even download bootleg photoshop for Windows! 

Thankfully, there are still options for those of us who are sans photoshop and other art programs.

^^this is the site I use to “photoshop” memes. It takes a minute to get used to if you’ve never used photoshop before, it’s not an exact replica of the real photoshop, but it’s close enough to where many of the controls are still the same so you can usually follow along pretty well in tutorial videos (I think it’s a rip of older photoshop codes).

For iphone users, I mostly stick to these two apps!

Again, they’re not real Photoshop, they’re much more basic, but between Photoshop mix for placing objects in my pic, and PS Express for adding filters, I can pretty much get what I want out of an image!

For videos and gifs I use Final Cut which is not free unfortunately, and since I know someone will ask, for audio I use Logic Pro which is also not free.

Okay so I’m gonna edit a Dannypocalypse meme on photopea!

I hope it’s obvious to you but in case you don’t know, I am NOT a professional, this will NOT be a very detailed tutorial, it’s just how I go about doing basic dannypocalypse photoshop memes!

First thing’s first, I’m gonna download this face:

Which already has a transparent background! Nice!

Next I’m gonna find an image I want to edit.

So I found this image of someone peeking behind a curtain I thought could be funny. So I need to edit this image so Danny’s face is behind the curtain and the guy’s hand.

So first I’m going to layer the Danno face on the image and position it the way that I think it should fit.

So at this point I think the correct procedure is you’re supposed to cut out the parts of Danny’s face that should not be visible. But the way that I do it—and this might be kinda weird idk it’s just how I go about it—is I’ll actually add the first picture on top of Danno again to make a sandwich:

And then I right click and raterize the top image, click on the lasso select on the left side toolbar, and start cutting out any parts that I want Danny to be behind.

Again, I’m fairly certain that this is not in fact the best way to go about this, It’s just the way that I personally find easiest.

So yeah I pretty much just zoom in really really close, and then go ahead and outline and delete chunks at a time that I want Danny’s face to peek through.

There are a few different kinds of select tools you can play around with. Mix and match, if you will.

Once that’s done you’re pretty much done! If you want, you can play around with lighting and effects to help him blend better or to add to the ✨ambiance✨, but I’m tired so I think I’m gonna call it right there!

And voila!

Here is my finished danno behind a curtain. Again, this is not actually good photoshop advice. It’s just for the dannypocalypse!

how to make a meme/edit

Someone asked me how I make all my original content, so here's a sort-of tutorial! My way of making them is a little different from how most people do. 

Most people use Photoshop, Gimp, etc, basically some kind of official photo editing software. When I first started out, I didn't bother learning how to use any of those software. While I sort-of know how to use Photoshop now, it's not my preferred method. Instead, I use a program pretty much everyone has, Microsoft Powerpoint. 

So, open Microsoft Powerpoint... 

Open up a blank presentation and get rid of the title/subtitle text boxes. You should have a blank slide now: 

Now, obviously you need some kind of idea. Since tomorrow's Valentine's Day, I'll just make a standard "forever alone" meme. My idea will be a "other people on Valentine's Day vs me on Valentine's Day" kind of thing. First I need a picture of couples doing couple-ey things. Since I primarily do anime memes, I'll go find some anime couples. There are a couple ways to do this: 

Google Images - Just google it, ex. "Celty x Shinra." If you like a picture but don't like the resolution, click "search by image" and then "all sizes." 

Take a screenshot from an actual episode. This is what I prefer, since it makes aligning the images later really easy. 

I like this one: (kyaa!) 

So paste that into your empty slide. Then you can drag the dots on the corners of the image to resize the image. (Note: the corner dots will keep the lengthxwidth ratio the same, so use those.)

Here's how to make them the exact same size (I'm a perfectionist): 

Arrange the pictures so the top edges are aligned and their sides are touching: 

Drag the bottom right edge of the second picture, until it aligns with the bottom edge of the first picture. (You'll see a red dashed line when they're aligned properly.) Powerpoint will help you with this, which is why I love using it. 

If you drag them over each other, you'll see that they're the exact same size! But let's say you didn't use screenshots, so they don't work that perfectly. If they're only a tiny bit off, feel free to stretch them a little horizontally or vertically. But if they're way off, you can use this handy crop feature: 

Okay, I'm just going to find two more anime couples using the same steps. The final result:

Now you need to put text in there. Click the Insert Text Box icon: 

Click and drag to make a text box. I usually make mine span the edges of the picture and then center it. Type your text in. My default is Calibri, 18 pt, and there's no way anyone will be able to see it. Choose an easy-to-read font (Impact is the standard meme font) and make it a bright color (usually white). Increase the font size. 

There's a pretty obvious problem here: You can't see half of the text. The way to fix that is to highlight the text, go to the "Drawing Tools" tab, and make the text outline a dark color. 

Now you can see the text! 

Now you need to find a picture to go with that. I happen to have the perfect screenshot for this, so I'll just paste that in there and resize it as before. 

Now put some text on that picture as done before: 

And then put your name on it somewhere so you can claim credit for it! It was your idea and your work put into it, so take ownership! My admin name is Psycho Alchemist, so that's what I put on it. (Try making it big enough to read but not so big that it takes over the picture.) 

Now, open up Paint. Paint is a pretty basic software that comes with pretty much every laptop/tablet, I think. Open that up. Then Select All from your Powerpoint slide (Ctrl + A), and paste it into Paint. 

Depending on the positioning of your text boxes, there may be a little white space on one of the edges. Just Select what you want to keep, and then crop it. Then save the file!
