rewatching fmab for the first time in nearly 10 years :') somehow it's even better than i remembered, it's such a masterpiece ❤️
the way my relationship with roy mustang has changed over the years... first i disliked him, then i begrudgingly respected him, then i thought he was awkward and cute, and now at age 29 i find him very attractive LMAO. maybe this is my final form
oh, THAT'S why. we're the same age now so I guess that's why I wanna marry him 🥴
isnt that right, fullmetal?
as a teenager, I agreed with everyone telling Roy not to kill Envy. but as an adult, I empathize so much more with Roy 😭 I know it wouldn't bring Hughes back, but 😭😭😭😭
Crying is how your body speaks when your mouth can’t explain the pain you feel.
“Who’s the real you? The person who did something awful, or the one who’s horrified by the awful thing you did? Is one part of you allowed to forgive the other?”

girls who learned all their vocab from books and are now constantly embarrassing themselves by pronouncing words slightly wrong in conversation

Yor's entire character and her reasoning for agreeing to a fake marriage is actually meant to be a subversive social commentary on how society expects people, especially women, to Peak before 25 and if they haven't "settled down" in a typical Married with Children lifestyle and had love experience, then clearly there is something wrong with them. Her anxiety about being the "perfect wife" is enhanced by this societal pressure because shes 27 years old and has no dating experience and is consistently ridiculed for it. In this essay I will-
Yor is literally and metaphorically the strongest woman in the entire cast, capable of killing half a dozen men with her bare hands without breaking a sweat. She is an assassin, a goverment killer who goes after criminals and 'traitors' in order to preserve peace. She is in the prime of her life, doing more good for her country with her job than she ever could being a wife and mother, and yet almost everyone views her as being strange and even wrong for not dedicating her life to serving a man.
She chose to be Loid's fake wife to avoid suspicion, but she only agreed to it in the first place because Loid actually respected her autonomy and strength- one of Yor's coworkers literally called her a former prostitute, and Loid responded by saying that Yor is admirable for doing anything she could to support her younger brother.
Yor is a terrible cook, but that's okay because Loid is a good one and he doesn't mind doing the cooking, and he will punch anyone who tries to deride Yor for that. Yor is 'freakishly strong', and Anya finds her amazing and wants to learn to be just as strong.
In a story about a fake family becoming a real one, the characters find happiness because they subvert expectations. Loid is the caretaker of the household dedicated to keeping his wife and daughter happy and fed, while Yor is the protector who fights off anyone who might harm her daughter and husband. But they also aren't just flipped gender roles either, because Loid very much is the breadwinner of the household, and Yor very much is the emotional rock for the household.
