IGRAINE HATES BEING HOME NOW AFTER THE BREAK-IN—and she's tired of being a burden sleeping in her friends beds and couches . Tonight is the on-call room , where she had slipped past Dylan and gone straight there , throwing her pack up onto the top bunk and slipping under the covers . Even the new locks didn't keep the thoughts at bay .

She hadn't realized someone had joined her when she lifted her head from the top bunk , ❝ No I don't suppose I can . It's been a rough couple of weeks . I figure I'll eventually just collapse of exhaustion and then I'll be ready to work for my next shift . ❞

SENDER reminds RECEIVER to eat.

SHE KNOWS SHE LOOKS DIFFERENT—the exhaustion and lack of eating has taken a toll and her face is more gaunt . Her hair is suffering and it's frizzy from couch surfing . She needed to get look at a new apartment soon , but it just felt too overwhelming .

❝ I'll eat , I swear , ❞ she leaned against the hallway of the Emergency Department in her scrubs . ❝ I just keep forgetting . ❞

Igraine does get like this from time to time , but this time it's not because of an episode . She just needs to find time to sit , but the department is overcrowded so close to a holiday like memorial day .

She turned to Andrea with a smile , ❝ But , thank you . . . you know for caring . ❞

“Can’t sleep?”

SHE'S BEEN SAT UP FOR A MOMENT, MAYBE MORE LIKE TWENTY MINUTES—the dreams get worse sometimes , they never have fully gone away , but on nights like these after a twelve hour shift she's drowning . She'd automatically gone to Jack's and slipped into his bed , which he'd said nothing but opened his arms for her . After a few hours she woke with a start and slid back to the edge of the bed , laying back against the headboard .

Her hands are locked up when she stiffly nods , ❝ Keep seeing it—them—see their faces sometimes ,❞ her voice is barely above a whisper . She knows she doesn't have to tell Jack what she's talking about . Her breathing is shaky at best . She'd tried not to wake him , tried to take care of it on her own . She was an adult for christs sake and Jack handled his shit .

❝ It'll pass .❞

I have to admit there's a small part of me that's terrified you'll wake up one day and realize you don't need me anymore... that you'll leave.

IT'S ALMOST A GIGGLE THAT ESCAPES HER BEFORE SHE TURNS TO SEE A SERIOUS FACE—Jack's never expressed this before , not even in a joking manner . If anything , he was the more secure one in their relationship . She can't even fathom what had triggered this train of thought , but she's up on her elbows , turned toward him in bed . Validation . He had talked her down off of so many cliffs , and she could do the same . Igraine's face mirrored his own , shock and then a serious furrow between her brows as she studied him—god he was serious about this . ❝ I'm not with you because I need you , ❞ her tone serious , and It sounded harsh coming from her mouth .

❝ I'm with you because I want you . When do I ever do anything that I don't want to do without kicking up a fight ? ❞ she asked him . She then sat up and adjusted herself so that she was knelt beside him on the bed, face to face with her nose just brushing his . ❝ Wanting you feels so much better , rewarding , than needing you . I'm here for so much more than what you can give me , and you give me everything . ❞

Her lips pressed against his , firm and grounding before pulling back just enough she could speak again . ❝ Once deployment is over I am never leaving again , Jackie . ❞

SENDER slips something into RECEIVER'S pocket.

SHE HADN'T MEANT TO BUMP INTO THE WOMAN ON THE WAY TO THE TRAUMA CENTER—but in an instance Igraine is holding onto the woman , trying to steady them both . ❝ I'm so sorry , ❞ it's rushed out . ❝ normally , I'm more observant .❞

She released the woman , sliding her hands into her pockets when she feels a card there . A card that wasn't there before , and just as quick she's about ten feet away when she pulls it out , flipping it over . A number has been scrawled across the back and Igraine looked back to see if the woman was still there .

THESE NIGHTS ARE NOT FEW AND FAR BETWEEN ANYMORE—there's a constant buzz in her head , things to do , lists to make , people to help , trying to balance out her social life and her work life . Then there are the dreams that just wake her up and shake her to her core . She doesn't sleep well .

❝ I feel like my brain is on fire sometimes , that it's running so rapidly that my hair might just catch and singe off . ❞ She shrugs , pulling one of the charts over the counter down toward her desk she's occupying . ❝ I'm not going to lie , I did still a redbull to make it through my last double . ❞

SHE'S ALREADY IN THE HALLWAY WHEN SHE STOPS SHORT OF ALLISON—the glass window that houses all of the babies born in the hospital is illuminated still tonight , while nurses move through the rows of tiny babies .

❝ Actually I think I will , ❞ she hummed and moved to stand beside the other woman . ❝ It's nice , sometimes to just come up here . Remember after all the horrible things you see down there . . . in a completely different part of the hospital life is happening . ❞

SHE TURNED WITH A SMILE AND LOOKED FOR HER ATTENDING—someone to tell her why she was giving tours , but the ED was moving on as it usually did . She didn't think she was overly qualified for it after only being there for two years . ❝ I guess I am the woman for the job , ❞ she laughed and lifted her clipboard off of the nurses station .
