Hey, why is your icon pepe? I know it didn't start out that way but at this point the racist associations it's had attached to it make me very uncomfortable
I think I set my icon to celebrate the Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage in the US (which was a bit before the meme gained notoriety for its association with the alt-right), and I like Pepe with the gay flag as a symbol that I refuse to abandon him to his fascist captors. But if people find it concerning I can add a clarification to my description and/or switch to a different icon (such as, perhaps, a more explicitly antifascist Pepe, lol, or maybe with the creator killing off the character in disappointment it’s time to find something new). Let me know what you all think!

I'm looking for moderators! Key qualities include organization (lots of tagging!), good politics/pro-SJ, and of course the ability and desire to search through tumblr for meme origins and examples.
The primary purpose of this blog is to uncover and document the origins of tumblr memes, particularly those homegrown ones that originated here as well as those that are not documented anywhere else (such as knowyourmeme). With that in mind, below I have listed some memes for which I have been unable to find the origin. These are tough, maybe too tough, but if anyone finds a conclusive origin for one of them I will be impressed.
(Another option could be to write a meme explanation. Options could include heterosexuality is orgasms, elton john, a known gay, gay baby jail, "sweaty", anyway here's wonderwall, what's new pussycat meme, we poppin the biggest bottles when makorra happens tomorrow, top cat, albus severus potter meme, what she says, bee movie)

Clarification: for some of these memes, I know the source material (e.g. what episode/song/etc. they are from) but I don’t know exactly when or how they crossed over into tumblr and became memes, and that is what I’m looking for. Please feel free to message me for clarification.
