5 good/positive things that happened to you in 2019:

I got married! It was at the tale-end of the year in the middle of December, but we exchanged our vows and had cake and danced and it was pretty awesome and definitely the best way to end a year that was one of the most difficult ones in my life.

My mom beat breast cancer! She was diagnosed in January of last year and had surgery in early March. It has continued to be a struggle and will be a lifetime one for sure, but we are so thankful and blessed that the diagnosis wasn’t for a cancer that was further along or that she had to undergo chemotherapy.

I was issued a grant to assist me in legally changing my gender marker and given an opportunity at the end of the year to pay off most of my debt, which is all fantastic and a true blessing so that my wife and I can move forward with our plans to become more financially and otherwise independent in 2020 #Adulting

I officially hit 7 years since beginning my physical transition and 9 years since beginning my social transition and, for the most part, feel like I have done my 16 year old self proud when it comes to achieving the milestones that I set out for from day one while setting plans in motion for other aspects that I hope to accomplish in 2020 or 2021.

I became closer to my family and more appreciative of them in general. Admittedly, this was one of the few “silver-linings” to come out of the sudden and tragic passing of my grandfather in August, but it is pretty much a daily reminder that life is unexpected, short and long at the same time, and ultimately, I’ve not only got myself but my wife and cousins and sister and parents and so many people who love me and support me and that’s beautiful and incredibly fortunate of me to have.

I realize it’s already more than two weeks until 2020, but I hope y’all have an awesomely transformative and positively amazing year and that your 2020′s are a roaring success!
