#133: Check out the Basketball Hall of Fame
#133: Check out the Basketball Hall of Fame
The Basketball Hall of Fame is located in Springfield, MA, and it's a reasonable day trip from the Albany area. (And a lovely drive through the Berkshires.)
It's a really cool building shaped like a giant basketball. What I like best about the place is that it has interactive exhibits that are great for adults and children alike! The centerpiece of the museum is a giant basketball court, where kiddos (and adults, haha) can grab a basketball and make some freethrows, or even start a pickup game. I love that the ceterpiece of the museum is all about playing the sport and enjoying it!
Other interactive exhibits include seeing how large of a wingspan some of the players have. Or trying your hand at announcing some play-by-plays during a game. There are static exhibits as well, such as a list of all the inductees, and exhibits about some of the year's most famous inductees. (I particularly loved all the Michael Jordan memorabilia, but then again, I'm a Jordan fan!)
The museum has been around in some capacity since the 1960s; it was originally at Springfield College, then at a place across the Connecticut River, and then finally in 2002 to its current location. The building was designed by architects Gwathmey Siegel & Associates.
Even if you're not a big basketball fan, this is a fun day trip and a little something different to do on a Saturday afternoon. Check it out!

Soo, the band Cute Is What We Aim For came to campus and did a concert.
It was pretty great, and after the show I got a T-shirt that I got signed by the whole band plus the cute vender named Brian who happened to be single. I left the shirt in my friends car on accident. So I'll post a pic of it as soon as I am able :)
